Seems voyeuristic. I hope it is not a distraction to the team, causing a slump.

I have heard of this series. Just don't like 'reality TV'. IMO, the players do not need this distraction. Hope they don't lose thier focus.

It's not really reality tv. It's a documentary.

I completely agree. The problem is it's actually a really well done, entertaining, tasteful show. It's what it suggests about the future that's the problem.

I'm excited for it. Kinda lame that it's not on weekdays though because then we get it a day later than the US.

I'll probably end up watching it online especially because they're going to bleep some swear words out.

Can anyone explain to me what the difference is between hearing the swear word and hearing a beep where the context obviously tells you what swear word was?

I'm so glad this is happening this year, as opposed to years past where we'd be forced to watch guys like Blake or Hagman or Hollweg

Just more interesting cuz it conveys the emotions and tone of voice better thus making for more enthralling TV

If it was just once or twice I don't think anyone would care, but in past years there was ALOT of swearing. At a certain point it takes away from the quality of the broadcast. It's not the absence of the profanity but the presence of the editing.

For example, I've heard both the edited and non-edited version of the Boudreau locker room speech from the first year and I really don't hear a difference.

Well put.

In a documentary like this, a lot of the appeal is that it's an "uncut" take on hockey.

I've been watching some of the clips.. I have to say I think the Leafs will be interesting to say the least. though I found it very interesting watching the Torts one and he's screaming at them and how Torts is like "take Kessel, don't let him [bad word, bad word] your pants, etc." and at the end there was just one player who just sighed and says "I [bad word] hate this."

but i think for the leafs - other than having cameras in the dressing room during periods etc - it really shouldn't be anything too new, right? and apparently JVR's been through three of these puppies already? So he's already probably given everyone the lowdown

If you get an answer that makes sense let me know.

Have you ever tried to get through an entire episode of Jerry Springer despite the ringing in your ears?

And if Sportsnet does bleep the swearing, does it make that much of a difference? You have to be pretty stupid to not know what is being said under the beep.

Law.

edit: more specifically, the licence they have from the CRTC does not permit them to have curse words uncensored in their programming.
