I assume it was Veidt that crash landed on the property Lady Trieu bought with a child. She had that statue of him as an old man, even though he was gone for 10 years. Perhaps its more than a statue

A popular fan theory is that Veidt was frozen in carbonite ala Han Solo so that Lady Trieu could bring him to Earth. He landed into the property bought by Trieu and she's waiting for the Millenium Clock to be activated to bring Veidt back (she says her father will be there to witness the culmination of her plan).

I enjoyed the attempt to introduce viewers to the concept of reality as Manhattan perceives it.

It takes some skill and trickery and by and large I think it succeeded.

The one aspect I can’t shake is Manhatten’s desire for humanity which I had understood was long gone once he’d concluded the events of the original story.

I suspect the line about being worshipped by life being unsatisfying was the explanation.

Still, he’s such an alien intelligence that it’s hard to understand him going back to mortality for Angela.

In the original, Laurie convinces him that humanity is worth saving. His humanity is never completely gone, he is just very cynical and flawed.

I suppose he does it for her as opposed to for humanity - which is consistent for what he's willing to do for Angela.

If I remember correctly, he does because her birth was a "miracle" (a guy tries to rape a girl, they sleep together years later and get a child) and that miracle came into his life and bla bla.

So basically, humanity is worth saving because good things still happen even from bad things. And I think that is also why he agrees with Veidt that what really happened should stay secret. Basically, Dr Manhattan rediscovered his morality and moved away from his cynical apathy... which is quite ironic considering he agrees to keep Veidt's hoax a secret.

That's how I got it anyway.

The fact that they want the seasons to be self contained means they have some sort of plan. They wouldnt confine themselves to something like that if they didnt have an idea. I havent actually read any info on every season being different so i'm just reacting to what is posted here.

Yeah, it looks like Veidts scenes are leading up to the present, it was his 7th year anniversary of Dr Manhattan putting him on Europa, so Veidt in jail would be 2016

great call on the crash landing. At the time I had assumed it was Dr Manhattan, but now we know that’s not the case.

Bumping for the finale tonight. Really not sure what to expect. There's lots of loose ends to tie up. With a promise of a contained story, I'm curious to what tone it ends on. A big theme has been the lasting legacy of trauma, so a full happy ending isn't likely to be in the cards.

I am glad it ended when it did.
I enjoyed the closure and closing up of loose ends.
Most everyone got the ending they "deserved"

That was probably some of the best 8 episodes of hour long TV I've seen in a very long time.

Love how everything is neatly wrapped up, but there's somewhere to go for a season two if they choose.

Lindelof and everyone involved accomplished their goal as far as I’m concerned - works perfectly as a stand-alone season of tv with the ability to make another season if they feel inspired to. I trust Lindelof to make the right call on that - he isn’t in the business of churning out uninspired television.

The dreamland theater had all its letters knocked out except DR M

Also, I wish Looking Glass called Veidt a comic book villain after he hit him

Good finale, but this show was at its best when it dug into the very character oriented episodes like Hooded Justice and Looking Glass. The complexities of the plot resulted in a lot of monologuing and exposition.

Still a great show though, and I feel similar to those who have stated that they don't need a second season, but if they can come up with something that meets these standards, I would definitely watch.

Yeah I think the show goes with the idea that Manhattan was always still very human. His growing distance in part has to do with his new state of existence, but part of just who Jon Osterman is.

He is a shy introvert, with a very passive personality.

We see that played out in Cal, who is supposed to be Jon minus the powers. He is a really nice guy, but totally a background person who needs to be told what to do.

The most proactive thing he seems to have ever done was help Angela reconnect with her family with the time loop that lead to his death.

Also it was Veidt who manipulated him to become distant from humanity in the book

It was a bit predictable with the waffles scene and the “transferring his powers through organic material” line. It made his death a little anti-climactic.

I enjoyed Irons as the irredeemably evil Veidt - he stole that final episode with his final line to the gamekeeper and his outrageous need to win. Nice to see a little justice from Looking Glass given what he had experienced.

If you’ve ever played D&D and wondered what Lawful Evil is like - he’s exhibit A.

I echo those who argue that it was the individual history episodes that really galvanized the show - they had so many characters and plot lines to resolve in the final episode that it lost a bit of the emotional heft - but that’s ok.

Reminded me a bit of Lost at its best.

It’s interesting to ponder whether the Chief was ever really guilty or simply the victim of circumstance and Manhattan’s perspective. Given his wife and the trap door - I think we can assume that he is.

Keene did say that Judd and June got close to the family after the White Night. Also in another episode did say that Judd was there to help steer the reaction to 7K.

So I think while he might not have been cyclops, he definitely was complicit in 7K actions.

Considering how much they had to cram into a season, I thought they did a great job limiting the expository dialogue.

Also I have to admit I didn’t expect things to become a love story in the end.

Regina King better win an Emmy for this. She was fantastic.

She was absolutely fantastic, the episode where she meets Dr Manhattan was amazing, my wife wanted to watch it again right when finished it.
