If Kampf is our 3C we are in deep trouble. He's a black hole on offense.

How did you arrive at that conclusion?

He's been stuck on 4th line duty, with offensive juggernauts like Kunitz and Kruger. The only way to find out if he has offensive upside is to give him a chance. No issue with giving him a trial run at 3C. Sink or swim.

Of course, it would be better (for everyone but Kampf, lol) if Dach is deemed ready. We shall see.

They don’t watch him play. There’s a pretty big difference between the offensive abilities of Kruger vs Kampf
While that is true, Kampf still doesn't do enough to justify 3rd line minutes. He's great offensively as a 4th liner, but he leaves a bit to be desired as a 3rd liner. He's a bottom 6 tweener IMO. He should only play 3rd line in the event of injury. I'd rather give Aleksi Saarela a look there than Kampf.

I'm going to be legitimately shocked if Nylander starts the season in Rockford. If that happens, trading Jokiharju for him makes zero sense.

I just do not get this at all..

What don't you get about this? His offensive production is about on par with Kruger, even before he came to the NHL. He's a good player -- definitely has a spot on this team -- but as a 4C, and that's it.

and again, what is this supposed to prove? I am not seeing a black hole here...please use context with usage and linemates.

I love it when people tell season ticket holders this. Super witty.

My mom is a season ticket holder and doesn't watch shit. Being a season ticket holder means very little other than you have the cash to buy ticket (this is coming from a season ticket holder). It almost as bad a saying my kids play and I pay for it so I know. :sarcasm:

I’m sure the 8 games a year you go to and half-way pay attention to while you’re drinking 312’s counts for more than me watching at home on TV

Kampf isn't a black hole, but he isn't a good 3rd line C either. His offensive abilities are a bit better than Kruger, but not by a lot.

If he is our 3rd line C, its not the end of the world, but it's not ideal IMO.

Kämpf is a lock. No questions ask.

I agree he is a lock. The Blackhawks open the season in the Czech Republic, and Kampf is from there so this helps his causes to make the team. It would be a bad P.R. move for him to start the season in the AHL. I don't think he plays in all 82 games, but I would predict he plays in 65 games, gets healthy scratched a few. I would be surprised if he gets sent to Rockford. Healthy scratch yes, but Rockford I'd say "no".

I don't think Nylander will start the season in RFD but it is your statement that makes zero sense. If any young player has deficiencies in his game and needs more time in the minors so be it. Better that than having said player struggle (and lose any confidence they may have) at the NHL level.

So in one sentence you say he isn't a black hole. In the next one, you say his offensive abilities are slightly better than Kruger who by all accounts... was a black hole offensively in his career. Which is it?

I think Kruger had more offensive capabilities than just being a black hole. With his dungeon zone starts and defensive responsibility, he was rarely put in any situation where he could show that. I don't think either player is a black hole. A black hole is John Scott.

Please identify a 3C on a playoff-caliber team who is less offensively-gifted than Kampf. I can't think of one.
we won the Cup with f***ing Handzus as #2C...we also have been rolling Anisimov as our #2C and then 3C the past few years, Kampf can do everything he did but better away from the puck. I still have no clue what you are talking about.
