The thing you should really take from this is how uncertain the Hawks really are about #2 center. This is good, it means they aren't considering bringing Handzus back. If only it could have been done in time for this year.

Played a bunch of shinny with the guy when he played for the hamilton red wings, lets just say hes a magician with the puck at the junior / College level.

Nuge- how is Carey's skating/agility/speed?

also, what is the diff. between OHL and the Junior league he played in? seems like the league he played in is a step down? or is it?

He played for the hamilton red wings which is top tier junior A in ontario its the ojhl.. guys regularly shift from that league to the ohl.. in his 2010-2011 campaign with the hamilton red wings he had 84 points in 45 games. And you can see his current results this year and lawrence...

To add, players from this league get drafted straight from there on occasion, as well. Pirri was drafted right outta the OJHL, and there's usually a few of them every draft.

So it is a step below the OHL.

What about his skating?

Leagues at this level are generally referred to as 'tier 2 junior A', not "top tier" which would really be major junior.

Tier 1- WHL/OHL/QMJHL/NCAA
Tier 2 - OJHL/BCHL/US National Development

NCAA isn't tier anythjng. Tiers are for Junior hockey.

The USHL is also Tier 1 but still maintains NCAA eligibility. Both USNTDP teams play games there and against NCAA programs.

I'd put the USHL in the same tier at the OJHL or BCHL. It's clearly a step down from the CHL, and it's proven with guys like Broadhurst that dominate the USHL as 18-year-olds, and then perform very well, but not outstanding, in the OHL.

players opt to play tier 2 hockey,to keep their university eligibility open.Once you play major junior, you can't play ncaa hockey.
