Has anyone given away more talent than Ottawa in the last 5 years?

Last 5 years?
I'd say Oilers lost Talent and top Player with Hall.

Hawks since Winning the Cup 2013

Panarin - Teravainen - Hartman
Saad - Danault - Panik
Sharp - Vermette - Shaw
Ladd - Krüger - Versteeg
Pirri - Wingles

Leddy - Hjalmarsson
Kempny - Van Riemsdyk
Daley - Johns
Oduya

Raanta
Darling

Looks pretty solid

You could make a pretty decent team of former Rangers

Miller-Stepan-Nash
Hagelin-Brasard-Grabner
Staal-Dubinsky-Callahan
Anisimov-Boyle-Duclair

With Gaborik, Pouliot and Lindberg thrown in there.

McDonagh-Girardi
Stralman-Yandle
Del Zotto- Moore

With Raanta And Talbot in net I think this lineup would have the advantage over the former Ottawa team

Edit: totally forgot about Eric Staal and Keith Yandle. Adding them and yeah that's a team that could probably compete for a playoff spot

And to add to this, ONE GAZILION 1st Round picks down the flusher...

NYR beat Ott pretty well..

Since 2013? Interesting. The Leaf "send-aways" either by trade or walking as free agents..........

Kulemin - Bolland - Kessel
Clarkson - Colborne - Grabner
Frattin - Boyle - Paranteau
Winnick - Steckel - Panik

Phaneuf - Franson
Polak - Michael-Liles
Corrado - Valiev

The Forsberg to Preds from Capitals was pretty damn dumb for a rental..

Still tho... Habs giving away McDonaugh and then doing the same thing again with Sergachev is pretty damn disgusting.. Not sure how i would react if the Rangers did this..

Oh, I'm well aware. Bergeron,Marchand,Pastrnak,Mcavoy etc. For most teams, it would be a death blow trading what they traded with such little in return. Boston is very underrated for how well they draft. As a Leafs fan, it's frustrating in a sense.

That's just the recent years, 2014 and after.

Before that I believe there was a 7 year strecth where they only produced Spooner(outside of the easy picks Seguin/Hamilton).

In the last 5 years? Probably not. But NJ had a doozy run of losing talent from 2005 up until about 2013.

Niedermayer
Rafalski
Parise
Kovalchuk
Gomez
Gionta
Langenbrunner
Martin
Oduya
Clarkson
Madden

You should thank us for taking that dumpster fire off your hands lol

I would be willing to bet Ottawa falls in the bottom 10 of the league in terms of "talent given away".

That roster looks AWFUL compared to other teams.

They just don’t know.

The Oilers win this thread and its not even close.

Huh? take a look at the Rangers and try to argue otherwise, unless you have a bone to pick - you're completely wrong.

This takes the cake, easily.

Isn't there a way to calculate the point production of all the trades and see if you sent away more points than you brought in ?

That isn't even that bad. That fantasy lineup is straight up awful and many of those trades Ottawa got good value on.

Boston is way worse. They've given up multiple high end talents at extremely young ages for peanuts.

Thornton and Seguin are both franchise players. Add in guys line Hamilton too.

Thornton (and Kessel) wouldn't make the cut off date used for the former Senators, and Seguin just barely would.

I'm not too upset about all the picks that we traded away because there really isn't anyone drafted in the immediate area of those picks that I truly felt bummed we missed out on.

2013 to CBJ was Rychel with Mantha Gauthier, Poirer, Shinkaruk, Burakovsky and McCarron

2014 to TB was Ho Sang (lol if Miller couldn't make it with the Rangers Ho Sang would have been kicked to the curb the day he missed the training camp), Kempe, Quenneville, Lemiuex, Hawryluk, Barbashev, McDonald, Masin

2015 is Beauvillier followed by Carlsson, Merkley, Roy, Fischer, Stephens.

Sooo needless to say not much. Fischer and Mantha are the only ones who have made any sort of significant impact in the NHL. Fischer I actually really like but again he's not a high impact player that would have made any sort of major difference in the state of the franchise.

And all I hear about Mantha coming out of Detroit is how much the coaches and management bury him every chance they get. Doubt he would have made it here in NY either.
