The Islanders were rumored to have offered Columbus their entire draft in 2012 for Ryan Murray. I'm pretty neutral on Garth Snow during the Wang era, I don't see him doing this. He was very conservative when it came to picks. Hell, the only guy that panned out from that draft was Pelech in the 3rd round.

Holy cow that would have been an all-time blunder. Good thing for them someone said no.

I don't think it's ever happened either. Reading that on Ryan Murray though, I think the Islanders are glad that didn't happen. Murray's looking like a big time bust right now.

Thought I remember the Flames offering up all their draft picks for Nathan Mackinnon in the 2013 draft. Too bad the Flames couldn’t get it done because Gaudreau and Mackinnon together would be absolutely magical.

It was just 6th, 22nd and 28th.

I’ve heard it quite a few times. Outside of Monahan, that draft was an absolute dud for the Flames. Colorado must’ve really liked Mackinnon because the Flames had 3 first round picks that season.
The Blues supposedly offered their 1st round picks (9, 24, 26) to Chicago at the 2007 draft to go to #1.

Good call, Chicago.

Columbus still has two later round picks, but you know they're gonna phone it in at the 2019 draft.
If I recall correctly, Brian Burke acquired a 2nd round pick in 2011(?) basically just to give his scouts a reward for doing their job all year. Pretty sure that player failed hard as well

Edit - I know the Leafs had other later picks but my point stands

I wouldnt call him a bust, but more of someone who just didnt live up to his potential. 29pts and +20 in 56 games this past season is solid

Dave Nonis really tried in Vancouver, trading almost every pick away in 2005 (only to miss the playoffs and not retain ANY of the players he traded for) and picking nothing but garbage in 2007 (0 NHL games played).
