Not to threadjack this thread (where nobody seems to recall Kovalev's 5 minute shift for some reason) but what about guys who storm off the ice and don't come back? Most famously, Patrick Roy.

Lehterä&Laine did this a lot in juniors.

Laine's most shifts are pretty long even still, he stays on ice sometimes 10-20 seconds after his line changed.

In some game, he had already a minute more playtime over Scheifele after 1st period just from his extended shifts.

Hasn't Lundqvist pulled himself a couple of times too?

Involuntary but Chorney and Strudwick were stuck out for nearly 4 minutes

If you want to see the decline of the Red Wings, compare this video with their game against the Oilers on Sunday.

I saw someone mentioning Kovalev and a 5-minute-shift. I think it sounds pretty unbelievable so can someone please confirm if it's true or not?

Rumor is the guy that stayed out for 5 minutes, drew two penalties and then scored - but I guess we'll never know...
