I didn't say they were going to be cup contenders, which is what you're basically implying I said. They are at a 88 point pace with Blackwood in goal with this current group AND this current system. That's my point. This team can be far closer to the playoffs than the top pick with a simple coaching/structure change and a legit #2 goalie. The rest will come in due time and they'll take off as a franchise.
It can't be understated just HOW BAD Domingue and Schneider have been. Both of them just murder this team and it's an auto point or two lost 85% of the time Blackwood doesn't start.

If either of them play for this franchise again after this year (And I'm 100% sure Domingue won't, but only 95% sure Schneider won't) then someone else needs to be fired.

Butcher is fine. It's Greene and Mueller who need to go and they'll be gone next year.

Butcher really isn't fine. He's probably a defenseman that needs to be sheltered, and the problem is that you can't do that with him while doing that with Ty Smith in the immediate future. He's such a bad skater that you can't have him playing big time minutes against top players. He's a find sheltered third pairing type, but we have guys who can do that.

Butcher needs to be paired with another player (maybe a Miles Wood type) for an upgrade on defense if at all possible. Or an upgrade at forward.

I'd also be more willing to bring Greene back as a 7th defenseman / fill in for Smith to play 3rd line pairing minutes and PK than I am to keep Butcher here and playing top 4 type minutes if we need him to.

This is my shocked face.

We could be the Lightning and you'd still find a way to complain or be negative. I know your type.

lol.

I think what you said before is 100% the truth.

Give me an actual NHL coach with a well-established NHL System (and a legit backup for Mac), and we'll be right there with the other bubble teams contending for the Playoffs instead of thinking where we will fall in the top ten of the draft...again.

I think it's evident with the results. When you have, as someone pointed out tonight, only a 15% chance of winning a game with your back-up goalie, you're going to look faaaaaaaaaaaaar worse than you really are. If we land a legit #2 goalie and, as you said, a proven NHL coach or a coach with a proven system, we'll make significant progress, even with the talent we have. I don't know how that's even arguable.

Jack with a filed out frame is going to be a stud. Too many times getting knocked off the puck but man he can play. Really not worried about his struggles at all.

no, this team needs more than just a good coach is what I am saying. A good system would be good. But our left side is non existent . Butcher is bad, at least this year. Greene should not be back next year. We have no clue what Smith or Bahl will be and if they even make this team next year.

if we trade Coleman and Palms away, well, there goes a few proven top 6 guys we have to make up for losing.

Again, as I've already pointed out, this isn't about being a cup contender. Of course any numbnut can see that the left side needs fixed. This is about being a bubble team with the current talent. It's 100% doable with a better coach and a legit #2. We're so far from being in the basement long term, it's ridiculous that we have people pounding the table for a complete blow up.

He has a lot to improve besides his size. I am not worried about his size at all... it's more of how he is adjusting to the league...still on a nightly basis he doesn't seem to gauge time and space well...you see it most often when he just throws the puck away randomly because there is nothing there.

He needs to learn how to take care of the puck better..he throws the puck into dangerous areas of the ice blindly almost every shift....of course it's a learning process but I am a little more than disappointed with his ability to adjust to the game speed...that should be his bread and butter... I get it he's 18...but think the progress has been lacking and that has little to do with size and strength.

When it comes to our defense
Pk not doing anything this yearz the blackhole of nothiness that is mueller, vatanen's injuries and seversons roller coaster style of play have been a much bigger problem. All of which has been made worse by any goalie not named blackwood. Also not sure where you guys think butcher is going. Also, who's to say ty Smith will need sheltering. Well worry about that when the time comes.

Being the dwarf with the longest legs doesn't make you tall. That's butcher right now. Just because he's not the worst problem doesn't mean he isn't a problem. I have no idea what you do to fit him in moving forward.

Butcher has been awful.

His mental tools are not enough to make up for his lack of physical tools. He is weak and slow. Easily knocked off the puck, easily outmuscled in front of his own net. I would not be at all sad to see him go.

I wanted to trade Butcher after his rookie season..I remember posting something to the effect of - I don't think his value will ever be higher than right now. I took a beating for that too.
