The Pro's are nuts if they want to go there. Canada will end up sending it's Spengler Cup team.
If the NHL shuts down for a bit it's done there is a clause that will cancel Olympic participation. I wonder how the Russian, Scandinavian, and European players will feel about that?

I’d be comfortable if the season ended today. We’re probably not going to out-tank Arizona. We’d be guaranteed a top four pick with a good shot at first or second.

At this point I would put the league down for 2-3 weeks and revise the calendar for a 70 matchs season or something. Yeah yeah, never done before bla bla bla... they have the means to do it if they really want to.

It'll be up to individual player to follow guidelines and do the best they can within their own friend/family groups and community, but it's probably a good idea to take the rest of the 2021 calendar year off since it's the holidays anyways and evaluate late December/early January. If needed, make up games during the Olympic break which I think the NHL will not be attending.

I know a break doesn't guarantee a drop in infections, but a break will guarantee that players won't spread them to opposing players.
