There are plenty of candidates that have paid their dues at multiple levels that could have been given a shot. Not some errand boy that’s coached PeeWee briefly.

I like the move as an interim coach.

It changes nothing - the Habs suck and they will continue to suck.

This is a try out to get his feet wet as a coach - we shall see what comes next.

Think of this as calling up a rookie and letting him play when the stakes don't matter.

He is only interim so we have a easy out if it does not work and if he somehow becomes amazing then we all benefit

Any single head coach of CHL, AHL. Any assistant at the NHL level. They all have more experience than him.

Let me ask you, would Marty have got the job if he wasn’t a good NHL player? How is that an actual qualification?
