There are actually two C’s in the Canadiens’ logo – an inner C and outer C, which represents the full team’s name, along with the H for Hockey, this gives us “Club de Hockey Canadien”

Club De Hockey

Our nickname of Habs (Habitant) didn't come until 1924 by Tex Rickard who mistakenly said that's what the H stood for and then more prominently when the Rangers tried to use the name as an insult in-rivalry. The name stuck after but it is in no way associated with CH.

The official name of the team is "Le Club de Hockey Canadien" which is where the CH came from.
