It's the decisions that were made:

Don't offer Danault 5.5M.

Do offer a 1st for Dvorak at 4.5M.

I'd rather overpay Danault by 1M and keep that 1st, which could be a lottery pick!!

Danault wasnt going to sign here. Thats obvious. It wasnt about the money, it was about the role.

They F'd up. With Danault on the team at, say... 6,1 M$, how easy letting go of Kotka would have been? Now, I understand and agree that we need to let him go because the salary is nonsensical... but the depth at center is terrible. Even with Dvorak, we're 1 injury away from playing the Zamboni driver at center.
