Habs wouldn't make this deal if there wasn't a contract extension already in the works. It's possibly why the Habs haven't announced this yet. (Never mind, they announced it).

Also, this may be the end of Mete in Montreal? With Chiarot, Kulak, and Romanov already there (although he can play RD). And Edmundson coming in with an extension, Mete is likely the odd man out.

I don't think so. Its insurance and we dont know if Romanov is for a NHL d man yet. They may have liked Mete on RD too so its just depth at this point.
