Im thinking Luke Gazdic. Gazdic is no GOON, could play hockey while beeing able to drop them against any HeavyWeights in the league. Take the load from Prust, while Gazdic plays anywhere from 8 to 10 minutes a game. I know Coach T likes to roll 4 lines.
Gazdic Malhotra Weise line would look really nice. No more Habs beeing soft.:yo:

Pretty solid down the left if you ask me...

For a safe 3rd/4th LW while Bournival is out, I say we continue trying Bowman, or Tangradi, or even deLaRose who would not feel pressure to put up lots of points but just play his speed game.

Of course, if Bourque "finds his game".... - LOL!

Out of the box question: Has Beaulieu ever played LW?

...no, and that's one experiment MT should not touch with a 100ft pole.

I'd go with Bordeleau if he comes back healthy

Big, hits, fights, put up 11 points last year in only 7 mins/game

And I'm totally ok with our 4th line LW only playing that much - we have lots of guys that can PK, he just needs to crash and bang and take the load off Prust

The point isn't that they only play that much. You have to completely change the way they play and the situations they play in. Bordelau played those 7 mins/game against soft opposition with a high percentage of offensive zone starts. He can't play on a line that gets tough defensive zone starts. And that's exactly what we bought Malhotra in to do. How can they play on the same line?

Maholtra is a face-off/PK specialist that will still get extra D-zone starts and get double shifted to take the draws late in the games - yeah maybe Bordeleau gives up a little over a guy like Moen on the defensive side but there will be an added benefit of his hits and toughness creating some energy that our 4th line doesn't seem to do anymore. I thought the Avs 4th line last year was one of the better ones in the league

Liked what I saw from Sorkin in preseason -> Size, speed, grit and even a nose for the net from time to time

Before trading Gonchar for a 4th liner ;), I'd sign him to an NHL contract and give him a shot

The correct answer of course is Prust or Bournival, with the other one on the 3rd line. Not sure why we're trying to solve problems that don't exist? Would we have 13 wins now if only we had a goon on the team?

I think Prust compliments a 3rd line better than plugging him on the 4th

Prust is a 4th liner being used on the 3rd. He won't be able to follow Sekac and Eller. What we need is not a 4th. It's a 3rd liner. But to play the game.....I'd probably ask for Jared Boll till the day he retires....

Agreed,
Prust started falling behind last night...

As much as I hate playing 7 defenseman I wouldn't have a problem with it until Bournival is back. Use Weaver mainly on the PK and Gonchar mainly on the PP, double shift Pacioretty and Galchenyuk.

Would've liked to see Andrighetto get a chance on the third line but Prust has been solid there, no reason to break it up for now.

Agreed that we need a third liner to replace Prust. Bournival if he comes back healthy or who else in Hamilton?

I'm all for people who deserve it. I've been hard on him but I think Hudon deserves at least to see the NHL for a few games. His biggest problem is injuries and his size. Playing with Eller and Sekac, he'd be fine as his hockey IQ is his strength. I'd like to see that. But we won't. It will take some really really bad games by that entire line before Therrien removes Prust from it.

It shouldn't be Bowman, hes more of a 3rd line scorer than a 4th line banger.

It would easily be Bournival, were he not injured.

I could see Prust in that spot too, were he not playing well on the 3rd.

The next most logical move would be to call up Tangradi, so I'll say Tangradi should take that spot.

He slows down our 3rd line too much.

Yet they've scored for 2 games in a row now... While I get your point, it seems to work as of now, so I wouldn't change that right away... If he can get involved physically to make more room for Eller and Sekac to control the puck, I can see it as a good fit.

Let's just hope that's what happens.

And I'd like Bournival on the 4th line. He's not an all-star, but he has speed and would bring that to our 4th line (or the 3rd, if Prust doesn't work with Eller and Sekac anymore), which is nice :)

As mentioned it's unlikely Prust will keep up his level of play so I'd put him back on the fourth and bring up Andrighetto. What is there to lose?
