Thanks for the info.

Probably the Habs would have to use their own 2nd round pick.

Habs and Chicago 2nd would be more attractive but I don't that would get one of the late NYR 1sts.
The Rangers have 7 picks in the first 3 rds. They really don't need to trade a potential 28-31 for the 38/67

Coyotes
Traded two 2006 second round picks (#41-Cory Emmerton) (#47-Shawn Matthias) to Red Wings for 2006 first round pick (#29-Chris Summers), 2006 fifth round pick (#152-Jordan Bendfeld) on 2006-06-24

Coyotes
Traded 2007 first round pick (#21-Riley Nash) to Oilers for 2007 first round pick (#30-Nick Ross), 2007 second round pick (#36-Joel Gistedt) on 2007-06-22

Ducks
Traded 2008 first round pick (#28-Viktor Tikhonov) to Coyotes for 2008 second round pick (#35-Nicolas Deschamps), 2008 second round pick (#39-Eric O'Dell) on 2008-06-20

All 3 of these trades are much closer in value to each other that the proposal. The 67OA is the deal killer. It just does not seem like any incentive to make the trade for the team holding the 1st. Make it both the Chi. and Mon. 2nds and you are there value-wise.

Do you have any history of a trade including two early 2nd??

2011 Leafs/Ducks -22 for 30+39

More in line with the proposed deal
2015 Leafs/Flyers 24 for 29+61
2015 Leafs/Jackets 29 for 34+68.

Acknowledging that every draft is different and that every team values the picks differently-
Habs 36+66 = ~30-32,
Pick 26 or better = either 36+58+66 or 36+38

Because of the need for a center, would the Habs give up two 2nd round picks for Artem Anisimov?

Yeah well, anyway, trading picks during the draft always depend on the players disponible and how they are being viewed by the team trading up. So there is your value.

Just as likely that guys you had much higher are available at#38 and #67. So the point is kind of moot.

There are several centers available this summer (Tavares, Statsny, Bozak, etc.).
So trading for Anisimov isnt needed right now

Habs are in shitty spot. With no top 6 center and their better center being in a pretty bad shape physically (Danault's concussion and neck problems), it is pretty hard to predict what will happen. I'm pretty sure if Mtl is not an option for Tavares, Bergevin will go hard after Statsny and overpay for him. If it doesn't work, then he might overpay in terms of assets to get one in a trade and Anisimov is certanly an option.

2nd + 3rd?

Would be fine if the Leafs did that deal for Anisimov. I'd want the Hawks ideally to take some retention though, ~750k, would add a prospect like Nielsen if that were the case.

Though that depends on some factors- i.e. whether we resign Bozak and he takes a discount, Tavares/Thornton, and the direction the front office goes with in terms of addressing the C hole Bozak may leave.

Not gonna happen. Top 4 picks are superior. Nobody would trade 2-3 spots back to get two 2nd rounders.
2 2nds and maybe a 3rd should get a deal done. A team in the top 3 would move down a few spots for that price if they liked someone in that range. MTL needs an offensive superstar like a Svech/Zadina.

Can you name me 5 significant 3rd rounders off the top of your head?

It's a crap shoot.

i can't recall 3rd rounders but only on the Mtl team, Hudon and Gallagher are 5th rounder and Mete is a 4th rounder. I mean, off course this is not a guarantee odds are not that great but 3rd rounders hold value.
