Maybe Chicago if NSH gets the 31st pick? They don't have a 2nd and have two 3rds already. it depends who is on the boards

It would be nice if there was a value chart like the NFL has, but I don't think a 3rd rounder moves the needle that much.

Just using similar deals recently Islanders and Tampa made 2 different trades in 2014(35 + 58 for 28) and 2015(33 and 73 for 28)

Thanks for the info.

Probably the Habs would have to use their own 2nd round pick.

Yeah off course it all depends on the targeted player. If they feel tehy will lost the player before the 36 overall. And they still have 2 other late 2nd.

I agree. To be frank, i was targeting the lowest of NYR 3 1st picks

Rangers don't get a lot of 1st round picks. I don't see them trading it for the 38th and 67th. I know moving down 7 spots at that point isn't really much, but I don't think we're going to attempt to move down in the draft at all.

This chart says you could get up to about 18 or 19 but I not sure if that is true anymore.

Fair enough. To be honest, i'm not sure it make sense for the Habs at all. But like the Rangers, it depends on the players available.

Logically, Habs have 4 2nd rounders and NYR have 2 late 1st. I guess these are the teams that can afford to make a deal like that because of quantity.

Senators don't have a 2nd or 3rd round pick in the draft, depending on where Pittsburgh's 1st pick ends up I could see Dorion looking to move down a bit. Could certainly be a fit.

Do you have any history of a trade including two early 2nd??

Coyotes
Traded two 2006 second round picks (#41-Cory Emmerton) (#47-Shawn Matthias) to Red Wings for 2006 first round pick (#29-Chris Summers), 2006 fifth round pick (#152-Jordan Bendfeld) on 2006-06-24

Coyotes
Traded 2007 first round pick (#21-Riley Nash) to Oilers for 2007 first round pick (#30-Nick Ross), 2007 second round pick (#36-Joel Gistedt) on 2007-06-22

Ducks
Traded 2008 first round pick (#28-Viktor Tikhonov) to Coyotes for 2008 second round pick (#35-Nicolas Deschamps), 2008 second round pick (#39-Eric O'Dell) on 2008-06-20

These types of trades happen on draft day when Habs don't see a player they like and a team wants to move up 5-10 spots. I'm thinking #31 is the best you could do with CHI's 2nd and Habs 3rd. The difference between CHI and Habs 2nd is already a 3rd/4th so if you swapped in Hab's 2nd that could get you up a bit into the 1st.

I wouldn't trade down from the HABS POV, not in that range, unless a player they had in their top 20 was still available, from 25-50 this year it's an absolute crap shoot.

Yeah. And i don't think this is the year to solve our center problems. Haven't seen any clear future top six candidate in this year's center pool.

Someone posted this link in a previous similar thread:
What does it cost to trade up in the draft?
I think it gives a good idea of the relative value of a pick- based on this chart they might be able to fetch one of the latest first (think 30-31st)

So that is a "fair" value, but what is the incentive? What GM is going to say "hey, I know we gave up our 1st, but we got a 3rd!".

edit: as mentioned above, Vegas maybe since they really need to build out their system.
