Jacob Roach has been traded to Kingston for a conditional fifteenth rounder. The value of the return is indeterminate but this does clear some room on the overage front especially if either or both Dawes and Gogolev are reassigned. Since probably both will not come back Uba and Stephenson should be in the starting lineup on opening day, whenever that might be.

Where do you think Daws and Gogolev are going to play next season? Most OHL players drafted after their 19 year old season go on to play an OA season. I think I have identified all of the players in the past decade that were drafted immediately before their OA year.

NAME - DRAFT YEAR - BIRTH YEAR - PLAYED OA?
Greg Meireles - 2019 - 1999 - yes
Cole Coskey - 2019 - 1999 - yes
Sean Durzi - 2018 - 1998 - yes
Mac Hollowell - 2018 - 1998 - yes
Adam Mascherin - 2018 - 1998 - no
Brandon Saigeon - 2018 - 1998 - yes
Brandon Crawley - 2017 - 1997 - no
Petrus Palmu - 2017 - 1997 - no* IMPORT
Stepan Falkovsky - 2016 - 1996 - no* IMPORT
Kurtis Gabriel - 2013 - 1993 - yes
Alan Quine - 2013 - 1993 - no
Eric Locke - 2013 - 1993 - yes
Tanner Pearson - 2012 - 1992 - no
Mitchell Heard - 2012 - 1992 - yes
Garret Ross - 2012 - 1992 - yes
Colin Miller - 2012 - 1992 - yes
Andy Andreoff - 2011 - 1991 - yes
Josh Shalla - 2011 - 1991 - yes
Andrew Shaw - 2011 - 1991 - no
Tony Dehart - 2010 - 1990 - yes
Jason Wilson - 2010 - 1990 - yes
Dalton Prout - 2010 - 1990 - yes

Daws and Gogolev and Hillis will be traded before season starts or all by OA Deadline to get down to 3.

George may trade for another OA dman.

Hillis is signed. Highly unlikely anyone would commit any picks trading for his rights.

Didn't realize Nico Daws was born in Germany and carries dual citizenship. Wonder if he has had any offers to play overseas?

I like to cheer a little extra for a young player that gets overlooked a little and then really comes back to almost say “hey what about me”.

To bad the WJC didn’t go a bit better for him however it’s a short tournament and the starting goalie can swing on one save or missed save quickly. He didn’t really play poorly he just was outplayed by his teammate. Hope he continues to shine wherever he ends up in this crazy COVID-19 infected era.

I'm just here to stir the pot....

Shocked that we're through 65 picks and Gogolev is still on the board. Strange for a guy some think is a 1st round talent.

Here's hoping Dawes hears his name soon, too. Only 3 goalies off the board so far, and only one from NA.

Hope everyone is staying well and staying sane. Be safe out there!

I thought George Burnett’s contract was for three years and expired this year. Am I wrong? Did he sign a new contract?

Lol

In all seriousness, I saw some graphic during the draft that showed the % of NHLers by draft round. Outside of rounds 1 and 2, the next highest percentage of current NHLers was the "free agent/undrafted" category.

While he didn't hear his name get called, this is by no means the end of the road. Hope he's given a chance somewhere...he deserves it.

Nothing directly Guelph Storm related but interesting to follow the Mitchell Miller story with the Arizona Coyotes which resulted in the organization’s relinquishing their rights to this fourth round pick for past racially related criminal behaviour. Storm owner and former coach Scott Walker was heavily involved in the draft decision making for the Coyotes and Miller was theCoyotes’s top pick last month.

Anyone know what's happening with Gogolev's deal in Sweden? I know Brant Clarke's deal with Vasby fell through, I imagine the same thing happened with Gogolev's?
