Let's not act like that wouldn't happen in a similar scenario involving other nations. Heck, even with the parallel games now there's room for shenanigans (and people can say what they want, I'll go to my death bed thinking Sweden-Denmark in 2004 was a fix).
Wasn't it revealed that it was fixed? I seem to remember reading an article about it.

Maybe, but the rules changed after that infamous Germany-Austria game in '82 (Shame of Gijon).

Outside of 78 and 82 (?), is there any tournament where Poland doesn't **** the bed? Always shred through qualifying and look terrible afterwards
no - can't recall them doing anything of note.

They stormed into 2006 and were a complete non factor.

I never understood the Sweden/Denmark conspiracy theories. Game never went like that.
