Perlini-Stepan-Keller
Panik-Dvorak-Chucky
Cousins-Kruger-Grabner
Crouse-Strome-Fischer

Still need to bounce Perlini/Panik from the top-six, but we're on our way to a real NHL line up.

Don't like this. Grabner is such a one-trick-pony. He requires the perfect situation to be something other than completely useless. Whether he gets that in Arizona or not, I don't know.
He's a third liner. With elite speed and a good shot. He's also great on the PK. He's good for 20 goals with no PP time at all. He is not a top six winger. How is he useless?

I'm fine with this, as long as we do whatever the hell the Rangers did to get him scoring 25+ goals the last couple years. His numbers outside the Rangers are certainly not great. Seems to be a well liked guy though, so that's a nice bonus.

He's also in incredible shape. He will body and skating shame Strome into greatness.

Ask New Jersey and Toronto.

Again, you can't just plug this guy into the lineup and he will score 20+ goals for you. He is the biggest one-trick-pony you've seen. The guy had 27 goals and 9 assists last season. That's an absurd statline and it's normal for him. He needs to be used in a very specific way to get anything out of him, in terms of linemates and strategy.

He could score only ten goals, and he'd still be a steal given the deals handed out to Beagle, Roussel, etc.

If you sign him counting on 27 goals and for him to play as a top six winger, you're the problem, not the elite defensive winger being miscast.

$3M is the new $2M player. It’s fair value for a back to back 27 goal scorer who has some flexibility for this roster.

Lol no. What a stupid argument. That's not how this sport works at all. You're better than that.

Also I never said that. I said it's a risky signing. And that I don't like it.

An inconsistent player with the potential of hitting 30 goals for 3 M is a very good deal. Especially when you add in the fact that he's solid on the PK

Plus it's no secret that Tocchet wants to play faster

Silly me, I thought adding a premier 3rd liner coming off back -to-back 27 goal seasons without giving up assets for slightly more than the price paid for a couple fourth liners (ie, market value) is a great deal for the franchise moving forward.

But if he doesn't, this could be just a waste of 10 million. Also he's 31 and has had major injuries in his career. All he has is his speed, and when that goes... Very risky signing.
Disagee. For all his perceived faults noted by NYR and NYI fans, he is an upgrade for our team and brings needed scoring. All at a very reasonable term and price.

Clearly you are not interested in reading (or understanding) what I'm writing so this discussion is utterly pointless.

If he manages to find a spot in the Coyotes where he can be that player you are describing, it's a good deal. But if he's the same sack of shit he was with for example New Jersey and with some other teams earlier in his career, this could be a buyout candidate in 2 years. Hence the risk. My dislike for this comes mostly from that, but also from the fact that I don't like him as a player (one-trick-pony, frustrating to watch).

Sigh. Again, you are assuming he brings that. He might not bring that. He has a history of not bringing that. He is a risky player in terms of that. How is this such difficult concept?

Cool story.

This doesn't even make the top 20 for worst contracts given out this summer. We're happy.

Holy shit man, you'd think the guy tooled your girlfriend.

Were not talking a top 5 goal scorer in the league here. Its a guy that brings speed and a some scoring touch. A good PK'r and already has ties to ex Rangers already in the fold. We dont expect him to lead us to greatness, but hes a damn good pick up for what hes provided in the past and comparing others that were signed today.

You bring nothing in your argument but the bs (one trick pony, right situation ect.) no one asked if you liked the guy. Bounce already.

What if he gets bought out in 2 years after two awful seasons because he didn't fit into the team? This player always has that risk. Are you still happy? Is this still a great contract? Like, holy shit people. I feel like I'm talking to a wall here. The wall of desperate need to feel happy about the team and the promise it's showing. Come on, at least try to keep realism and rationality with you. There's a much higher risk involved with this player than your normal 3rd liner. Hopefully it works out though.

Cannot fathom why anyone wants Perlini out of the top 6. He’s got the best release on the team by far. He will score 30+ goals in a season.
Because he hasn't shown thr ability to turn his speed and shot into goals at the NHL level yet.
I like him a lot, but we're not an NHL playoff team if we're relying on real production from him or Panik or Fischer or Strome.
Hopefully this is the year he puts it together. I think sheltering him and Strome behind established NHL scoring forwards is the best bet at squeezing production out of them and letting them learn/adjust on the fly.

The risk is minimal. Even if he is just a PK specialist, he isn't overpaid by any amount that's worrying or crippling. He is a major upgrade on the trash the Coyotes have had in the past. He is also friends with Stepan and Raanta so I'm not at all worried about him "not fitting in."

A buyout after first year would cost us just over a million per for 4 years which is significantly less than what we paid to get rid of Ribeiro and would not exactly cripple the franchise going forward.

Worst case scenario is he’s a 10 goal guy who u can play in all situations. Best case is he tops 30 goals. We r okay somewhere in the middle.

Wow. Had no idea this is such a touchy subject for you guys that bringing up an outside-the-bubble perspective/scouting report leads to these sort of insults, strawmen and ridicule. Guess I should've expected that given the world today. Sorry for that. I'll bounce.

He isn't really a "PK specialist" in a traditional sense, he's just super fast, attacks the passing lanes and gets a lot of breakaways there. His game, including PK, is so much about confidence. If he loses that, things go south. His effectiveness on the PK goes too. Just saying, it's a riskier player/signing than you guys are admitting. We'll see how it goes. I'm hoping it works out because it would be great to see this team rising up to a playoff contender after all these long years.

We once dished out similar cash to Boyd Gordon when the cap was lower and the US dollar was worth more.

We are well aware that UFA signings don’t always work out. That isn’t the revelation you think it is.
