Seeing the success and recent contract received by Nichushkin, can't help wondering if Kamenev is a candidate for a similar breakout?

Had a successful playoff run for CSKA and thought either the Avalanche or another team via trade would be looking to give him a shot.

Nichushkin is large and can skate. My only memory of Kamenev in a game was his debut, where Brooks Orpik broke him in half in about his third shift. I doubt he's added enough size to be any more viable at the NHL level.

Kamenev's spatial awareness is abhorrent. All of his injuries were a result of him putting himself in vulnerable situations and not realizing it.

Similar to Timmins and Byram.

The difference with Byram is he'd knowingly put himself into those positions in order to make the play.

I doubt the Avs are desperate enough to go to option Z (which is what kamanev would be). But if we still have his rights, maybe we do see something in him.
