I wonder what GMGM's legacy is going to be remembered as 10 years down the line, the guy who built Washington (assuming they make the SCF), the guy who took an expansion team deep/won it all, or the guy who traded Forsberg for Erat.

Yzerman absolutely deserves the nomination, what a brilliant GM. GMGM deserves it as well despite the hideous Tatar trade. However, what has Chevy done? Hes big UFA signings were both duds in Mason and Kulikov. The Stastny trade was good but aside from that he has done very little. The Jets are great because of their talent which was acquired over the years, not because Chevy put the team over the top. Surely there are better candidates.

Chevy’s team went from 87 points last season to 114 points and second Overall this season. His finger prints are all over the build. The talent was acquired over the years but this is the first season the results proved out the process.

McPhee has it locked up.

But man, what Steve Yzerman has done with the Lightning over the last five years is pretty amazing. One of the deepest teams at the NHL level, one of the youngest cores, while having one of the deepest prospect pools. And he constantly proves me and the rest of his fanbase wrong with trades and signings that somehow work out despite everyone in the world thinking he's finally screwed the organization up. Any other year and I think it's his to lose.

But yeah. Not this year. McPhee has it on lockdown. There's no way to outdo a first year team that, within a few hours, may well be on its way to a SCF.
