Why would the Blues trade their Captain and #1 C along with a steady top 4 defenseman that's been a Blue for 12 years, both signed for at least two years after this year, in the thick of the playoff race, and not even for upgrades?

well I figure those guys would garner some interest... I haven't been shopping them but seeing what I could get for them.... It makes no sense for me to break-up the young core ( Perron, Pietrangelo, Oshie, Shattenkirk, etc) so I'm seeing what these two guys can get me thats all....

The New York Rangers have traded a 2013 4th round pick to the Tampa Bay Lightning for defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron. Bergeron, 32, has 1 goal, 5 points and is a +3 in 12 games this season. GM Zenith spoke on the trade:

"We're glad to acquire a player like Bergeron. We believe he'll add another element to our currently struggling power play. He's not going to play much at even-strength, but we badly needed a player that could shoot the puck from the point, and we got that player in Bergeron."

It sounds like more will be released out of the Rangers camp shortly.
