There's no way to avoid this, though, with our games lasting typically no more than a week or so.

A GM can't wait 2 days to make a trade waiting for someone else to respond or come along, hoping for a better offer that isn't gonna come. This isn't the real world where a trade evolves over days or weeks.

Maybe some pre game date plan would help with that. You will know that you have 3 days until deadlime so you can work on your trades. This hurry tradeing is also caused by nature of market. There are some many sellers that you want to done your trade as soon as possible because you are worried that somebody will offer better asset. When you look at the teams right now buyer have nothing left to buy for and sellers have nothing left to sell.
