The Dallas Stars second deal that has taken place sends Mike Ribiero to the Washington Capitals in exchange for centerman Tomas Fleischmann.

Confirm.

Ribeiro is a proven C, something Tomas could not live up to this season. Right now he's lined up with Brooks Laich and Alex Semin in what we believe could be the leagues best 2nd line, Ribeiro's playmaking with Semin's shot could be a lethal combo, especially with workhorse Brooks Laich on their wing.

You're right. The giddiness of someone asking for James Sheppard may have clouded my judgment.

Though, he's still under team control for a few seasons. And given he's attempting to move his bigger name guys and looks to be heading towards a rebuild, I don't really see a reason as to why the deal shouldn't be fair game.

Moving the Isles #1 dman was a hard move but given the status of the Isles right now we are not in a win now mode. We felt it would be best to give Streit a chance to play for a winner

We are happy with the return we got.

Kings acquire Umberger

The Los Angeles Kings announced today that the club has acquired forward R.J. Umberger from the Columbus Blue Jackets, along with prospect David Savard. Heading to Columbus are defenseman Jack Johnson and UFA-to-be Alexei Ponikarovsky.

"R.J. is a solid all-around hockey player, and we expect him to provide an upgrade to our top-six." GM KTSF said in a press release. "He has a knack for scoring goals at clutch times, especially in the playoffs. David is an offensive defenseman who we feel given the proper development time will hopefully become a top-four defenseman on our club. We'd like to thank Jack and Alexei for their contributions here in Los Angeles, and wish them nothing but the best in Columbus."
