Salary Cap

  • CAPFRIENDLY IS RECOMMENDED FOR ALL CAP INFO.
  • The salary cap maximum for the 2016-2017 season is $73M.
  • The salary cap minimum for the 2016-2017 season is $57M.
  • The salary cap maximum for the 2017-18 season is $74.6M.
  • Teams may exceed the cap maximum by 10% during the offseason.
  • Teams must comply with the salary cap during the season and by the end of the game.
  • Teams may have a roster of no more than 23 players by the deadline and at the end of the game.
  • Teams may sign their draft picks to contracts using the ENTRY LEVEL CONTRACT CHART.
[/fieldset]

[fieldset=""]Waivers/Buyouts
  • Post in this thread if you’d like to place a player on waivers.
  • Burying a player in the minors or Europe only eliminates a maximum of $900k of their cap hit. Use the Buyout Calculator.
  • A player will be on waivers for 24 hours.
  • Waiver priority will be based on the NHL standings as of November 6th, 2016 (the start of the game).
  • If a team claims a player off of waivers, they then have the lowest waiver priority.
  • Teams are permitted to use a maximum of TWO ordinary buyouts.
  • Buyout Calculator
[/fieldset]

[fieldset=""]Trades
  • All trades must be sent to Joel Ward and donut or else they are not valid.
  • Once a trade is agreed upon, send it in BEFORE POSTING, and then you can announce it in the thread. A deal without a NTC or NMC does not have to be approved.
  • If a trade is announced prior to it being sent in, it will be vetoed.
  • ALL MOVES MUST BE SOMEWHAT REALISTIC. The commissioners hold the power to veto any moves we deem to be ridiculous.
  • A trade involving a NTC or NMC must be sent in by BOTH GMs with a reasoning for the player(s) to waive. The trade must be approved by BOTH JW and donut prior to posting. Keep in mind that many NTCs or NMCs will NOT be waived.
  • The commissioners will provide a 5 to 8-team no-trade list for players with an unspecified "limited NTC" upon request.
  • If a trade involving a NTC or NMC is announced before approval, it will be vetoed.
  • If a team does not have enough cap space to complete a trade that has been sent in, the trade will be vetoed.
  • Vetoed deals must be significantly altered in order for them to be accepted.
  • If a player waives his NTC or NMC, the NTC or NMC will still be valid with their new team.

[/fieldset]

[fieldset=""]Expansion Draft

Protection Lists
  • Teams must protect either 7 forwards, 3 defensemen, and 1 goaltender OR 8 skaters (forward/defense), and 1 goaltender.
  • Please post your teams protection list in the expansion thread by Saturday, December 3rd at 4:00 pm. If you do not submit your list in time you will be auto'd in the live rounds of the entry draft.
  • Teams must protect all players with active NMC's at the time of the Expansion Draft (who decline to waive), and these players will be counted to the teams protection list.
  • All 1st and 2nd year professionals, and unsigned draft choices, are exempt from selection and do not need to be protected.
  • CapFriendly has an Expansion Draft Tool, use it.

    Player Exposure Requirements
  • Teams must expose 2 forwards who are under contract for the 2017-18 season, and have played 70 or more NHL games in the prior two seasons.
  • Teams must expose 1 defenseman who is under contract for the 2017-18 season, and have played 70 or more NHL games in the prior two seasons.
  • Teams must expose 1 goaltender who is under contract for the 2017-18 season or will be and RFA at the expiration of his current contract prior to 2017-18.
  • Players with potentially career-ending injuries who have missed more than the previous 60 consecutive games (or have been otherwise diagnosed with a career-threatening injury) may not be used to satisfy the player exposure requirements.

    Regulations Relating to Expansion Franchise
  • Las Vegas must select one player from each of the 30 other teams, for a total of 30 players (14 forwards, 9 defensemen, and 3 goaltenders).
  • Las Vegas must select a minimum of 20 players who are under contract for the 2017-18 season
  • Las Vegas must select players with an aggregate Expansion Draft value that is between 60-100% of the prior season's upper limit for the salary cap.
  • Las Vegas may not buy out any selected players earlier than the summer after it's first season
  • Las Vegas will be given a 24 hour window to negotiate with unprotected UFA's and RFA's that are left exposed, between when protection lists are submitted and when Las Vegas' selections are due.
  • Las Vegas will be able to make trades following the commencement of the Stanley Cup Finals.
  • Las Vegas will not be able to trade selected players back to the team they selected them from until January of 2018.

Looking to swap some pieces on the roster (Spooner, Beleskey, Hayes, Nash, Krug, McQuaid, K. Miller, Morrow, Khubodin) and a lot of prospects and picks (Zboril, DeBrusk, Koko, Frederic, Subban etc.)

We're looking to overhaul the defense from top to bottom and we're looking for an offensive playmaking winger thats got some wizardry to him.

Chris Tanev/Erik Gudbranson+ could be moved for a young(23+/-), top 6 center or high potential prospect. Willing to package other pieces to make a deal work.

Jannik Hansen available for high pick/prospect.

Ryan Miller available for pick/prospect. As is Alex Burrows.

Looking to bolster the team for a deep playoff run. We have some cap room to work with since Stamkos will be on LTIR.

Actively looking for a top 4 puck moving RHD, and rental upgrades or players on good contracts up front. Tyler Johnson or Jonathan Drouin could be moved in a deal for a high end defenseman.

Ben Bishop is being shopped as we are very confident in Vasilevskiy's abilities. Several teams have expressed interest, looking for assets for the present, and for the future.

We have 21 picks in the next 3 drafts, and a pretty solid group of prospects, willing to move pretty much any futures.

Jordan Eberle is in play for another winger with similar value.

We could also move our 2017 1st round pick and maybe other assets for a young (21-27) top 6 LW who isn't an UFA to be.
