The Tampa Bay Lightning are happy to announce the signing of C Paul Gaustad to a 4 year, 3.25M/year deal. Paul will be the anchor of our 3rd line, and will be a valuable piece that should fit effectively in Guy Boucher's system. Look for more moves soon from Tampa.

Leafs bring back Niittymaki

niittymaki_1.jpg

The Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed Antero Niittymaki, acquired at the trade deadline in exchange for Jonas Gustavsson, to a 1 year, $1.75M$ contract.

"Antero is a proven net-minder in this league who is now on an affordable contract, and will bring amazing experience and talent to back-up James Reimer." Leafs GM TribalPhoenix announced in a press release today.

"With James still a young number 1, it's important we back up the position with a solid netminder who is capable of stepping in as a reliable starter in the event of injury. Antero will provide just that, and will give Ben Scrivens a year to establish himself as a dominant netminder in the AHL. We're very happy to bring Niitty back."

Mikhail Grabovski - 5 years 25 million dollars, full NTC

Pavel Kubina - 2 years 4.5 million dollars

Cristobal Huet - 1 year 1 million dollars, LNMC

"We added a top-6 center in Grabovski and we feel it gives us the best top-6 in the whole NHL. Kubina gives us a veteran, physical presence on the 3rd pairing and he can move the puck. Huet was stellar for the Caps 3 years ago and we hope he can return to that form"

RYAN FINDS JETS A 'SUT'IBLE MATCH

ryan-suter_1.jpg

Highly-coveted D-man Ryan Suter was inked earlier tonight as the newest member of the Winnipeg Jets, continuing an exciting off-season that has seent he team add firepower up front in super teenagers Yakupov and Galenchyuk, and now shore up their backend with the stud Defenceman. Suter inking a 9 year $85.5Million dollar contract that will see him joing Brad Richards as the highest paid player in the NHL next season at $12M. The deal also includes an NMC for the first 6 years, followed by an NTC

"Obviously in this league, you have to spend to get...especially when a certain GM out east is opening his wallet." GM T-Cage snarked thru a beaming smile at the team's press conference "We spent more than we wanted to, but still think we got a great deal with this all-world Defenceman."

News around the team is that they also inked sniper Andrei Kostitsyn to a 4year $15Million deal, and are currently 'in talks' to acquire another Defencemen as well as some veteran leadership

After missing out on Ryan Suter(who was grossly overpaid), the Lighting are happy to announce the signing of defensemen Francois Beauchemin and Mike Commodore. Beauchemin will be on our 2nd pairing with Mattias Ohlund, and will be paid 5M over 2 years. Commodore with anchor our 3rd pairing along with MA Bergeron, and is going to be paid 900K for 1 year.
