We can agree to disagree, with the right moves we won't have any cap issues. And we don't have to get rentals.

For any big name winger, we will have cap issues unless we trade multiple roster players mid-season which isn't Shero's style.

We can trade Letang, when you add his salary to Dupuis it's over seven million in cap space, problem solved. Kunitz was traded for Whitney once upon a time. Gogo for Neal also.

+ MAF. He did his job.
+ Overall. A wins a win and I'll take a 3-0 shutout any day.
+ Glass. He's been playing pretty well.

- That stupid 2 on 1 empty netter by Adams / Glass. If I was Glass, I would have been very upset with Adams taking that stupid shot when the defender committed to him. I mean, either Adams was 1) being very greedy, 2)Didn't trust Glass with an empty net, or 3) had no idea what to do on a 2 on 1. Whatever the answer, that was disgusting. Glad Glass buried it though.

The Sabres are hands-down the least talented team in the league this season.

Shero won't trade Letang this season. I don't necessarily think that he will play out his contract, but Shero won't trade him before his new one even begins. Whitney and Gogo weren't nearly as important to our team as Letang is.

Hypothetically though, we still need to keep room open in case Vokoun returns. Trading Letang simply does not open up enough space to acquire a 6M wing.

Yeah, he's even been a healthy scratch on a bunch of occasions this season right?

Yep, unless someone is pining for the heyday of Michel Ouellet, no one should want to see Thompson up here.

Gibbons evolved his game and became a pretty versatile player, Thompson hasn't really changed much.

+ Gibby - he looked good.
+ Fleury - 4th shutout!
+ Pyatt/Glass
+ Sid/Kuni
+ Letang/Scuderi
+ Martin, Orpik, Määttä, Nisky.

Good win.

If Shero traded Letang before the new contract kicked in I would laugh, or if he got traded right after it kicked in... and then make jokes him being disowned or whacked. I do actually question just how important Letang is to the team now, especially in contrast to how important Crosby and his whole winger shame thing is. We've had the cap space conversation already.

Apparently the Sabres have never scored a PP goal in Consol.

+ No known, serious injuries yet. They didn't get embarrassed and they didn't lose anyone, yet. That's practically their cup.

If it was any other player, I might subscribe to #1 or #2. But given the fact it was Craig Adams, he probably didn't have the awareness to even realize there was someone else with him.

+Glass and Engelland on the bottom line. I really hope DB uses Glass-Vitale-Engelland
+Crosby got 2 points
+Gibbons potentially a solution on our top line for this year
+Maatta and Niskanen
+Fleury

-JMN looked like crap
-Orpik sucks
-Orpik sucking brought Martin down
-We should have scored more

I think gibbons is only solution against teams like buffalo, calgary etc.. I really hope he proves me wrong.

two pathetic teams. only difference is that one will be adding talent in the draft.

And a bunch of it.

They are looking at 1st overall, and they have the Isles pick which will be top 10, though the Isles will probably choose to defer to 2015. They have three 2nd round picks, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th.

They could realistically come away with 4 or 5 1st round picks in the next 2 years. What they get for Miller will be huge. I think Ott could fetch them a ransom as any team in the playoffs will want him, and some playoff team lacking scoring could give a 1st for Moulson.

2015 which is rumored to be a super deep draft, they are looking at all of their picks plus 2 more 2nd's. If they were smart, they'd go into this offseason free agency pegging character guys who could be great trade bait for playoff teams at the deadline, and collect again at the 2015 deadline, and probably have a top 10 pick again, with a good shot at top 5 or even 1st overall.

Murray has everything he needs to either make or break this team in the future.

Came in here to post this.
As if we didn't have any other reasons to hate Adams. What a D-Bag move that was. Complete ass! And teammates are supposed to like this guy? I never really cared for him but didn't exactly hate him like most people on this board, but that play right there (coupled with his dumb mustache look as of late...and I don't care if he is the mustache guy for the month as his makes him look like a roofie giving date rapist...or a 70's porn wannabe) really gives me a solid reason to jump on the band wagon...along with that OT play in Edmonton.

+ Gibbonater has some mad skill...He played well on the top line tonight. Which only means that our coach will use him sparingly there in favor of Kobasew, Pyatt or Glass in the next game. Yay. Can't hardly wait.

- Tony Siragusa (or however you spell it) commercials for "Depends" guy tampons. They really make this?!?! Guard your manhood???!!! WTF!?!?! Talk about making up an invention (a disgusting one at that) just to sell a product! And during prime time when I'm trying to eat! Noone wants to see that. No one wants to think about Tony's ball sweat either dude. So a big minus to Depends for inventing this product, flooding the airwaves with it and hiring Tony Siragusa to promote it. A bad idea all around.

++ Gibbons. Solid game with great hustle.
+ Engelland. Noticible in a good way, what more do you want from the 4th line?
+ Glass. Same as Engo.

- JMN. Just seemed out of sorts. Need to simplify their game.

I don't like Engelland in our end. He backs up too much and doesn't really hit his marks. He gets in the way every other game, particularly when Letang's out there for whatever reason. He lays the body well in the neutral zone though and he has a surprising shot. If he really committed to learning the wing he could be properly useful.

I liked Glass tonight. Used his speed, was actually gritty getting his stick on pucks and laying the body as the puck was around instead of 2 counts after. He may have even forced a turnover. Wouldn't mind him on the 4th line with Engo and Vitale (if Eggo improves his positioning) when healthy if he can keep this up. He even made a couple good possession plays and passes. Adams and Orpik are still poop.

How are people giving Gibbons +'s or saying he's the solution for Sid's line?

He looked weak out there, and missed an open net on Kuni's goal.

Good stop gap, I guess, but he is not the solution this year.

He's better than Glass and that is the biggest + you can give. I'd much rather see Megna there.

I can see it now. Lost faceoff, failure to clear, too slow to block a shot, Orpik randomly goes into a corner, no one clears the crease, goal. *Confused Bylsma*

OT, Letang at forward.

But he is the smartest coach in hockey, so that must be the correct lineup he throws out, the goal was just a lucky bounce :sarcasm:

Gibbons hit the post on that play, but did you even notice the play leading up to it? Gibbons isn't an ideal first line option, but he brings more vision and creativity to the wing than Sid has seen for a long time.

It's sad how bad Sid's winger situation is when Gibbon's is the best solution we have at the moment.

+ Gibbons was making some really nice subtle plays without the puck that often go unnoticed by you're typical uneducated fan. He just knows the right positions to be in before the puck gets to him. It's most definitely a skill that a lot of players on this team just don't have. Plus while most people were harping on how he missed the open net, nobody mentioned how sick of a pass he had to set up Sid seconds before. Who on this team has done that in recent memory? I can't think of anybody.

+ Megna's speed was very visible earlier in the game up until he got his penalty, and I think he reigned it in from there because he didn't want to **** up again in front of Bylsma. He was really making some great plays with the puck in front of and behind the net, as well as without the puck trying to screen the goalie.

+ Glass, in his proper role, played the way a 4th liner should play tonight.

+ Letang was solid defensively, and didn't have his usual "Letang **** up" moment. He kept it simple.

+ Fleury absolutely deserved the shutout with the quality of scoring chances he faced down the stretch and turned away.

= Crosby played OK, but he still isn't playing like Sidney Crosby.

- Malkin and Neal just aren't on the same page right now. They can't seem to make a simple pass, and everything they do they are making more complicated than it has to be.

- Adams is just dog **** slow and has no use on this team. I'd rather have literally any single WBS player over him right now. There is nothing special he brings to this team, and don't even ****ing bring up PK'ing. PK'ing isn't special. That's why guys like Craig Adams do it. It just takes commitment to playing well defensively, which plenty of our forwards do. Megna and Gibbons, guys who both could stand to gain some more ice time, were among WBS's best PK'ers and haven't been given a shot at all so far. When was the last time we scored a SH goal? Those two could provide that aspect that's sorely lacking.

Geno was a monster on FO tonight yet nobody mentionned that and many puts him on the -'s....:help::help:
I'm almost sure Sid would have been putted on the +'s by most of the Pens fans there with such FO stats, even if he were bad offensively.

+ Sid/Kunitz - The usual

= Gibbons - Showed creativity, hands and speed, but weak on the boards and had a really bad play in the defensive end leading to Buffalos best scoring chance.

- JMN - Out of sorts, half a step off losse pucks, sloppy passing.

+ Sutter - played fasterand more phyiscal than usual, speedy wingers compliment him well

= Megna - played hard with speed, took the body a couple times, but had a couple unecessary turnovers one right inside our own blueline. Also unessary penalty but that happens.

+ Glass - Hit everything, played faster, did his job and even got an assist, and a charity goal

+ Engellend - Hit hard and showed good touch, Would really like to see Glass/Vitale/Engo 4th line

+ Letang - No mistakes, making simple dump when pass isnt there

= Nisky, Maata - did what they do but were fighting the pucka bit in their own zone, maybe a little PTSD after last game.

= Orpik - played phyiscal and made a couple nice pinches, still slow reacting and cannot make a pass to a stick

- Matrin - bad game i think he still knocking off the rust

+ MAF - got the job done, didnt give up the glove corner, couple of outstanding saves.

If they get 3/4 top 10 picks over the next two seasons then they could well end up with Ekblad, McDavid, Perlini and Ehlers. :help:

Gibbons was ok, weak turnover in the 3rd period but overall maybe it's just me I find Megna the better player all around. I find Megna more creative in the offensive zone and a better skater
