The only game in that series I've played is Yakuza 0, but I got about 4 hours in and just never picked it up again. I found the gameplay sort of boring, repetitive. Would I have the same issue with Like a Dragon, do you think?
Depends on what you consider gameplay I guess. If it's the combat...and if you like turn based JRPG combat then, no, you won't have the same issue. I find myself struggling through some of the other Yakuza and Judgment games solely due to the button mashing combat. But the turn based combat of the two like a dragon games is awesome. The overall feel of the game though is largely the same as Yakuza 0 I guess.

Probably get the previous game pretty cheap at this point and it's also the start of the story for Ichiban

Finally 100% Elden Ring. Took bit of a break playing other things. Cant wait for the DLC, dunno if i will start from scratch or do NG+4.

Dunno what to play next. Playing through Detroit Become Human right now but its a game that i can only sit down and play for a couple hours before i get a bit bored of it. Cool *** game but its not something that can hold my attention. Thinking maybe Project Zomboid or another run in BG3. Still would like to wait a bit longer on BG3 so i can forget some things about it.

The PSN (whatever it's called) subscription service has a bunch of the "Tales of" games. I'm going to replay a couple of them until FF7 disk 2 comes out at the end of the month.

I liked the newest one Tales of Arise a ton. I've played some of the older ones including some of the remasters/etc. and never loved the combat. I thought Arise was extremely good.

I have Tales of Arise, got past the first major boss, all the Zephyr drama, and then just stopped playing it. For some reason that game never quite hooked me. I don't know if I was in the wrong frame of mind for it, if it's a slow-burn, or if it's just not for me.

Did you find it to have a slow start (I'm ~10-15 hours in)? Not sure if I should give it another chance or move on.

Been trying to plow through FF7 remake as quick as possible. I think in on chapter 15 now and in the last section of sidequests before the final act kicks off. Man those side quests are tedious...

Also dipped my finger into Warhammer Rogue Trader. It's everything I've wanted from a Warhammer 40k game so far, but man is it tough to go from the level of polish that BG3 brings to this. It's not bad by any reasonable measure.... but BG3 has just set the bar sooooo very high now for CRPG games.

I bounced off Tales of Arise as well. Looked really interesting amd well reviewed, but it just wasn't my jam I guess.

This is the main thing preventing me from even playing Remake. I've played through FF7 probably 6 or 7 times in my life, and it is darn near perfectly paced. It's hard to cram an extra 60-80 hours of gameplay in without ruining that pacing. Maybe once all of the games have come out, I'll play them all back-to-back...-to-back-to-back etc.

I'm the opposite. I got bored with the combat in Arise very quickly. I put it on easy mode and autocombat just to see the story.

I ended up diving into Elden Ring and completely absorbed by it. My sleep schedule is f***ed, but taking down Malenia last night felt pretty great. I think I have cleared out all the side quests that I can after starting completely blind so may start attempting the Radagon fight tonight. I was using a Dex build for most of this but made a switch to Str and Faith last night to try out Blasphemous Blade. I am enjoying myself thoroughly with this game.

Awesome. Str/Fth will always be my fav and I mained the blasphemous blade and the giant halberd from the tree sentinel dick in Limgrave. Can't wait for the DLC, going to start fresh

Hmm yeah I don't know why I liked this Tales so much and didn't like the older ones. I thought the combat was so fun that I ended up almost always fighting the random mobs which I typically try to avoid in those types of games. If you link your attacks together along with each person's special moves/etc. it can flow from one thing to the next so nicely. Some of the bosses were really difficult too which was not annoying but ended up being intense/fun.

I thought the overall story was really good...I was happy to see it to the end and then immediately played the DLC when it came out.

Yeah must just be one of those things, obviously doesn't hit the same way for everyone.

Still working my way through Infinite Wealth, should be able to time it almost perfectly to finish that right when Rebirth comes out. Enjoying Infinite Wealth a ton, but almost seems a bit easier than the last game? Idk maybe I've been doing more grinding without knowing it, but I think I've only died once. I feel like I remember dying a lot more in the first game. Perfect mix of serious/weird/funny though and that's what I'm always looking for with these games.

I got FF7 disk 2? today.

I miss the midnight release GameStop used to do for these games. Sure there were a few people that looked like they hadn't seen the sun in the last decade, but that was part of the fun.

I still go to GameStop for these types of games. They still get some swag to go with the game, and I really do like free stuff. I got a trucker hat with the game today, so I'm stupidly happy because I got free stuff.

I couldnt finish Detroit Become Human. While the story was really great at first it sorta fell off for me in the middle parts of the game. The game itself is just too boring for me and the story hasnt sucked me in enough to finish it.

Been playing Project Zomboid recently and its a pretty fun game ngl. Its very difficult but pretty rewarding. Probably one of the harder survival games ive played. The amount of detail in this game is incredible though. Right now im reading a book about Mechanics to level up my mechanic skill so i can make myself tired before i go to bed for the night. Thinking about setting an alarm on my watch that i found off a dead zombie so i can catch the tv show at 6AM to get some easy fishing XP.

And this toon died because i opened a door in a house that had 10+ zombies in it... My longest surviving toon as well at over a day in, in game hours.

Project Zomboid is fun. Too bad the online is still a bit broken so you can't play reliably in groups over 5 people or so, maybe even less. Still, the sheer survival aspect of it is thrilling, and so is having to actually avoid mistakes because death isn't cheap.

Leveling up a character is time-consuming and tedious. Going through the early grind especially so. Then you have to actually fight your way out of your spawn which, depending on game state, isn't easy nor fun either - doubly so if you minmaxed points on character creation and now you've got a severely underweight character who needs a hug and a cigarette running around in their trainers with a horde of Z's on their tracks.

On the other hand, you can have a neat little group of friends with specialised roles. I was the designated thief of our group, as well as the designated driver. Also, the chef. Nope, not a mechanic. So, I'd run around looking for cars to steal, usually hauling jerry cans of fuel and other accessories with me. I'd have a car with me to put spare parts in, if the vehicle itself didn't run but it had, say, good windows or tyres we could use. If it did run? Tow rope, attach it to main vehicle, bring it back.

During the night or when an area was deemed too dangerous? I was back in our base, cooking. Making delicious meals that we could pack, making sure everything is properly refridgerated and/or frozen, and trying to keep the kitchen somewhat tidy. Once others got back from whatever it was they were doing, they'd usually have a warm meal ready in no time. It was also my responsibility to at least try and make sure they wouldn't just grab the easiest meal out there, like having those bags of chips there in case we needed them, not when we couldn't be arsed to make anything else.

We'd have a carpenter who was expected to pick up metalworking, too, to make repairs and expand our base. Do construction work, shit like that.

Electrician, and I remember they usually liked to pick up mechanics as well.

We ran with a crew of three but the fourth was usually whatever. We kinda wanted a dedicated farmer/forager, which would've come in handy, but usually that fourth was our dedicated Z slayer. You know, someone who didn't mind occasionally re-rolling a character, usually went out in a blaze of glory, very skilled with blunt weapons. Runs a marathon, deadlifts a mountain, will leave a trail of gore and splatter behind. It was hands down the most fun role, plus it was perfect for those who just wanted to come in and smash some heads in without needing to be constantly around for base building and whatnot.

...I need to pick up that game again.

I finished off Final Fantasy. I got my money's worth out of the game and had fun playing it, but it's not an instant all time fav for me. It's big, it's pretty. there is lots do, and plenty of minigames (mixed bag with those).

The story lost me a few times, but that could just be a because I didn't play Crisis Core game. I know part of it is from knowing the original game so well and things don't always mesh. Kind of like growing up with Disney fairy tales then reading the Grimm's original stories type of thing.

I'll freely admit I didn't even try to figure out the more advance combat options (no clue what the synergy system really does). I just brute force hacked my way though everything on "normal" with Cloud, Barrett, and Yuffie as the characters I enjoyed using. I didn't use Red, Tifa, or Cait unless I was forced to. Aerith was in my party a lot. But was the token "prayer" near the end of battle to keep the heath topped off, or the "oh shit" I need a big group heal. Everything she does is just so slow I get bored controlling her.

I'll probably try the game on hard mode sometime in the future. I don;t think I'll be able to 100% complete it. There are a couple of the mini games that I just have no desire to play again (Aerith cactar games).

The final battle was cool until the very last stage; which was more annoying than a fun fight for me. Odin was the hardest summon battle for me (not counting the Gilgamesh Island stuff).
