This must be because of Volchenkov's contract. DeBoer can't justify leaving him in the press box. It does baffle me why he doesn't see Fayne's good qualities though.

Lou operates and always has, based on merit, regardless of who the coach is

What are Lou and Pete seeing in this guy that has warranted him to stay in for so long?

I understand trying to "showcase" him, but it's only harmed his value even further and more importantly the teams production on the ice

Beats me. Lou says he operates on merit, but I think there is some unwillingness to leave a high salary player on the bench. Nobody can convince me that they watched his recent play and said that he deserved a spot over Urbom, Gelinas, or Merrill.

I guess it's a good thing that Lou says the kids will get in before the end of the season, but I want that to happen before we find out the hard way that Volch continues to suck.

I would of went with Cory for both games only because he's extremely familiar with both teams.

That being said if we can't beat a 0-2 Edmonton team that has given up 11 goals in 2 games with Marty in net then we have bigger issues than which goalie is playing.

Edmonton is fast and skilled. It will be a tough game no doubt.

Well that's what happens when you don't draft defense and half your offense is on the shelf. So yeah we'd better lay the lumber to them or else.

Unfortunately, I can totally see a scenario where they maim us especially since RNH will be back. Speedy teams like them always give us nightmares but yea, even with all that, if we don't get 2 points then I'm gonna start to worry because that road trip can go south very quickly.

If Marty's letting in those putrid Sieve Mason like softies like the other night, Edmonton will be having a lot of fun with us. I bet Marty will still be playing more games than he should, just like the Kremlin Kone being in over pretty much anybody.

Is anyone going to cheer for Parise/Clarkson when they return to the Rock?

Would not boo Clarkie at all. Would boo Parise for sure.

The merc however, hopefully he doesn't have the nerve or any reason at all to show up in our building or play in it again.

As others have been saying in here, our defense hasn't been good since Robinson left. Our defense is really not that good. I would say average to slightly below average IMO. I wouldn't say our defense is overrated, because nobody really thinks it's good except for some fans of our team. With Volchenkov in the lineup and Fayne out, it's below average. I don't care that we lead the league in least shots against. That stat is extremely deceiving. The 22-23 shots we allow per game are probably on par with the 35-37 shots allowed per game by teams like Dallas and Buffalo. Maybe even worse than that. It's not even that the defense is necessarily bad, the team defense just isn't that good. Players like Volchenkov do play a big part in that.

Deboer's system leads to a lot of odd man rushes. Not that it's Deboer's system exclusively. Most forechecking systems will lead to odd man rushes. Heavy forechecking, a guy blocks a shot, off to the races they go. When you got turds like the Kremlin Kone in, there tends to be a lot of odd man rushes.

If I go to the game vs the Wild my Parise T-shirt will probably end up in the Wild bench at some point.

That's not a bad idea. I might do that when I go to the Devils/Wild game in Minnesota in November. So if you see a guy in a Devils jersey being escorted out of the arena during the broadcast, you'll know it's me.
