OK, so here's the deal before the game against Salavat...

Slovan's 3rd line tonight:

Hudáček, 23 years old
Matoušek, 21 years old
Daňo, 18 years old

Slovan's 4th line tonight:

Å ťastný, 22 years old
T. Mikúš, 21 years old
Mráz, 20 years old

1st-line center Bližňák out with injury for weeks now + assistant captain Kukumberg just got suspended for drunk driving (someone just posted a rumour he had drunk a beer too much with his Magnitka friend Zaripov following Wednesday's game).

Anyone still surprised Slovan sits last in the (West) table? :amazed:

Don't worry... If Slovan can keep those youngsters, in 2 years they won't be sitting on the bottom anymore. That's for sure!

The trouble is, someone like Hudáček plays 100% better when paired with a veteran like Šatan. He was great as a rookie next to Šatan at the 2012 World Championships where Slovakia won silver. But put Hudáček on a line with other youngsters and he can be invisible.

If I'm Salavat tonight, I'd focus on Slovan's 3rd and 4th line to exploit their weaknesses and inexperience. Slovan's young players have generally had a bad +/- rating this season, and they frequently get scored against first, putting a damper on the whole team. It's a pretty good bet this may happen again tonight. :(

The biggest difference between Slovan this season and last season is, that typically only 2 "junior" players used to have a roster spot last season. This season, it's 4, and under extreme circumstances like tonight, you might say half of Slovan's forwards are "juniors". It's almost like sending one half of an MHL team to play in the KHL. (Yes, I know they're all over 18, but not by much.) :amazed:

Barry Brust is saving Medvescak big time.
Next season he's in some Russian club or possibly NHL if he keeps up this stellar form.

I'm sure glad Slovan played Medveščak while they were still lost. :amazed:

Yes, Medvescak has improved big time 'till first games, but it still doesn't seem like a true playoff team.

Donbass is outplaying and outshooting them.
They scored one lucky and one 5vs3 goal and that's that.

Edit. Finally, goal for Donbass, PP.

Cheering for Slovan today.
That team is not and must not be the worse team in the West.
In another game, CSKA is fighting a good match vs MMg. Go go Red Army!

Look well Magnitka got outplayed n outshot by slovan who is at the bottom by, what was it? 40 smtn to 20smtn?, yet still they went OT.

just saying every team gets outplayed sometimes. doesnt mean much unless its a constant thing.

Slovan is a very good team with scoring problems. When they fix that, they're playoff contender, just like Medvescak.

I see both teams on 7-10 place

I'm an LA Kings fan and the one season Brust was called up to play for them for a few games, the Kings were a horrible team, among the worst in the NHL in those years (which is how they landed Doughty). Brust had bad luck to be with them at that particular time. Quick started playing on the Kings a year later, and it all went a bit differently. ;)

Good game in Donbass.
Ukrainians are playing, shooting, skating and doing everything right but just can't find the solution for the problem called Barry Brust.

Both teams are playing nice. Donbass looks bit more dangerous but Medvescak is holding great and they have chances to. 5 on 3 for one and half min. is huge against team like Donbass.
