Yeah it's a bit funny that there are big arenas in cities nobody's going to the games anyway while teams in Khabarovsk or Vladivostok who could actually be profitable with 15k arenas play in these tiny halls.

Khabarovsk is excusable - they built theirs in late 90's, when it was enough. They will probably build a new one at some point...

It was finished in 2003. Sure, it's before the KHL was created but still they should have built a bigger one.

You have to take so much into account when you build a new arena: is there a property available that has the right size? If it's close to residential houses you have those laws about noise control that might mean you can't build your arena there. Can you access the property by car and public transport? If not you might have to develop roads and parking spaces.

And I believe that the costs are a lot higher when you go over a certain size (different statical requirements). And let's not forget the time factor. Admiral had to play their first 7 games on the road at the start of the season because the arena wasn't finished yet.

They might have wanted to build an arena with over 10,000 seats but it might simply not have been possible.

It's built away from the city, they could have built a 30000 arena on that spot easily - space is no problem. It's either money, or misscalculation.

may be if we loose bad enough today Fedorov and Torcetti fly back home to US and never come back? Bring back Nemchinov as a GM and Butsaev as a HC and let's build the team right!

Nikita Bespalov must feel like he's sleeping with Marilyn Monroe.

Ilya Kovalchuk must feel... uncomfortable.

He is only interested in a job with a top team for huge money. He's now busy proposing conspiracy theories.

Bykov sans Zakharkin may end up being a huge waste of money, he probably realizes that himself. And Zakharkin is currently too busy turning Poland into a powerhouse of European hockey, because it seems like nobody in Russia wants to deal with his antics.

How was that last goal scored in the Dinamo Riga game? Maybe I was too tired from just waking up, but I didn't even see a puck.

Considering that Bykov's biggest strength is motivation, I don't think he needs Zakharkin that much.

Okay, I only saw the last 8 minutes of the Mag-CSKA game.

The last few minutes Zaripov and Mozyakin were skating circles around the defense. CSKA was completely checked out. Did they play like that from the start?
