Isles were classy congratulating Tavares for his individual milestone. But I am going to say there is a little Lou dig there. Just like when he said it's not like JT left a winning tradition here, nice not great individual career, but little team success. It's fitting he hit 1000 pts and lose the game, Couldn't be written in the stars better!
Can't like it more. Perfect ending: the Leafs star padded his individual stats, the Isles won the game.

You can complain about Lambert all you want (and I will continue to do so because he is a bozo), but at the end of the day your best players have to be your best players regardless of whether you have a HOF coach behind the bench or Fred Flintstone (Yabba Dabba Doo!).

And on that OT goal, the Islanders’ best players we’re indeed their best players.

Sorokin - stoned Matthews and made it look easy
Dobson - safely broke the puck out (plus had a three point night)
Barzal - Beautiful saucer pass at full speed
Horvat - Snipe in the toy department

That’s a good sign.
Not only their best players, but best players on the ice. At that moment in OT, Toronto had Matthews, Marner, and Reilly.
