I don’t really know, I bet it’s actually less common than we suspect though as it would get out somehow. Especially in the age of social media

According to google 3.8% of American’s are gay.

22 players per team times 31 teams equals 694 NHLers. This number is not including any players who get called up throughout the season.

According to math of percentages approximately 24 players are gay. Almost one per team.
