Post-Game Talk: Game XVI - Pens Get Metrodomed

Another game where a functional power play probably gets us an extra point in the standings. The apathy of our coaches and stars in addressing this is disappointing. Lots of other problems tonight of course, but the PP is the most frustrating.

Success will never happen when guys like Nieto, Rakell, Acciari, Carter, DOC, and Harkins have combined for 2 total goals.

Also, please no more Ruhwedel.

Also, please do something...anything...about the power play.

Honestly they have been struggling offensively as much as defensively, and the former is eating at the latter. Too many turnovers, or not making clean passes, or fumbling the puck. And it's a lot of them - Letang, Acciari, Sid, EK, Rakell, Nieto .... It's like the passing, stickhandling, and decision making powers got sucked out of them by the monstars.

Rust scoring on that breakaway could have really helped (or Acciari on his). Oh well.

And the PP is laughable.

I'll never understand how this pp has been allowed to continue the way it has. It's just so damn awful

Man what happened to the Geno and Smith we saw in the first 10 games? Geno looks older than Carter out there right now…really sad…as I’ve said, we’re going nowhere even with Sid putting up 2 goals a night…we’re really bad when we’re behind…lots of panic and mistakes..

Kindergarten Kyle is gonna look at the roster and ask himself who he needs to get to fix this and it'll never be a magical trade that fixes this. It's a pink slip to a coach that will.

This team cannot run and run anymore with the top teams. They need to change their structure against any team now, but we have an arrogant coach who will not make any changes. Jerry played great tonight, but their 4th line is terrible, and so is their powerplay.

They did make pretty major changes to their forecheck a month again already. They just suck still.

We're indecisive with the puck when we're pressured and we're almost always under heavy pressure. Canes and Devils seem to win all the lose puck battles and create from that. We just can't play the game at the highest level anymore.

They literally changed their forecheck for a stretch of games. I have no idea why they went back to their more aggressive style, but to say there have been no changes is outright false.

Now, they need to stick to those changes. Tonight is a perfect example of not being able to skate with a team, and the more passive forecheck wasn't used. It needs to be there tomorrow.

Yep. Sullivan is well past time to be jettisoned but games like these are pathetic. If they can’t play with any kind of structure, all these games are for is Crosby stat padding.
