The cross-box passes seem so high risk and with a low reward. Nobody’s one-timing that, so at best you’re hoping the pass gets the PK scrambling but just moving around has the same effect without the risk of just handing the puck away for an easy clear.

If I were a PKer and those passes were getting through my natural instinct would be to play a tighter box, which would be the opposite of what you’d want. More perimeter space but less opportunity to get them scrambling or find a short 2-on-1.
