Dude gets more than AHL minimum, which, fair play to him. But I hold him responsible as the poster boy for insanely boring worthless defensive metric-darling hockey and he should feel bad about it.

Listen man he does things no other player can do and this team is gonna totally fall apart if they trade him.

Wait... what's that? He's already gone? And I never even noticed?

Huh.

ZAR @ $750k vs McGinn @ $2.5mil

I mean, that's a tough call to be quite honest. McGinn is a luxury that we can honestly do without. I do not believe that a 4th line of Archibald-Bleuger-Poehling would be statistically worse than Arch/Poeh-Bleuger-McGinn. It would not make a material impact on the outcome of the season but we could have an extra $1.0mil give or take to keep an extra guy or have a smidge more room at the deadline.

Both he and Bleuger are guys I would not hesitate to have on the "open to discussion" list to see if there's anything that makes sense. Like a package of POJ+Bleuger for a 3rd-4th line physical winger perhaps. Hell, I would even potentially entertain something like POJ+Bleuger/McGinn for Joel Armia with $1mil retained once of IR. Ideally McGinn in that situation.

I mean... watching ZAR "play" the game is eye poison.

But with how this team's fourth line is deployed... well... you make a good point.

I would trade every 4th defensive specialist in the league for an agitator in a heartbeat. Defense is boring as shit and 4th line defensive specialists are poison in the womb of the NHL.

If he's wearing an every game jersey he's overpaid.

he makes 10,000+ a game (82 games) or 5,000+ per day (162 days).
Revolution now.

ZAR is getting his ass absolutely rammed in Toronto.
What’s one thing McGinn does well? The PK has gotten worse since he got here.

Not entertaining to watch, doesn’t have good size, and prone to rookie mistakes.

When guys like Heinen score 18 and get a mil, you never give big money deals to players like mcgin.

What have Hallander or DOC done to deserve being in the lineup? Or any of our young guys. None of them had stand out camps/pre-seasons other than Poulin. Archibald has played well and added some physicality to the 4th line. Poehling and McGinn have been fine. So many people want guys to play just because they're young with no other reasoning.

Poehling will likely be scratched when Blueger comes back anyways.
Hard to say what those two have done. O'Connor has been largely miscast his whole Penguins tenure as they keep trying to turn him into a 4th line winger. Hallander hasn't had enough games.

why, that could be a 3b line expensive one though, but it could provide a spark, worth of shot, but it won't happen cause for some unknown reason Carter and Kappy are designated duo
Don't wanna make it sound weird, but I think Carter and Kap are a duo because of emotional reasons. They are friends off the ice and Carter mentioned Kap used to show up as a kid to the rink a lot when his father Sami played with the Flyers to end his career.
Since Kap struggled mentally last year (he said that in camp), Sullivan is likely trying to create a comfortable situation for Kap to start enjoying hockey again.
I kinda agree with him on this. If you wanna squeeze something out of Kap but don't wanna put him on the 2nd line, this might be the best way.
So far they've been pretty good, so I don't mind it.

I feel that if you put Kap with Poehling and Brock he would fade away again. Also I feel that Brock does his best work here with Blue and that Poehling would be a pretty significant downgrade at 4C from Blue, both offensively and defensively.
These are unknowns though. These guys have never played together. Just my suspicions.
I wouldn't mind trying it if the situation dictates change is necessary.

5 out of 6 points and a few people losing their minds. I only caught the last period and OT so maybe this is on me.

he made some very nice plays against the habs. :dunno:
I thought he had a strong season so far in his limited time. He's being asked to win draws and play a checking role. That line has done just that. Hard to really do much when your zone starts are like 80% dz.

Edit: 82.1% defensive zone starts. With an offensively stunted Archibald and McGinn being hugely miscast. The fact that the players we have on the 4th haven't asked to be traded for their usage is the biggest miracle.
