That was smart of him. Forwards gotta get in front so the shot is screened.
I think he was in good enough position to beat him without a screen if he lets it go. Could be wrong.

If that puck bounces the other way and sends Arizona on an odd man rush would it have been smart of him to wait to shoot it? Keep the shot low, play for the rebound. That was smart of him. Forwards gotta get in front so the shot is screened.
This game could actually be 8-8 if it weren't for both goaltenders. Howard hasn't played as bad as posters lead you to believe. Still, he's been hot and cold since coming back from the injury. Let's just hope he gets hot at the right time, which I have a feeling he will.

Actually I thought moving in for a better shot was smart on his part.
Don't let this go to a shootout...
Fair enough. But if Smith waits to take that shot he would have been massacred on this board...Defensemen are taught to shoot in traffic, so there is always that risk.
It's bound to happen every now and then. Shouldn't happen against freakin' Arizona thoughHe's been good since I tuned in, but you're not going to get far with your starter stopping under 90% of the shots he's facing.
I'm convinced that once you become a Red Wing they make you take an oath to not shoot the puck in scoring areas
