Season series: The road team has won each of the three games between the Minnesota Wild and Nashville Perdators. Nashville won 6-5 in overtime on Dec. 20 and 3-1 on Jan. 10 at Xcel Energy Center. The Wild won 4-2 at Bridgestone Arena on Feb. 26. Minnesota’s Charlie Coyle, and Nashville’s Matt Cullen and Mike Fisher each have four points.
Wild team scope: Minnesota practiced at Xcel Energy Center Monday before departing for Nashville, getting good news and bad on the injury front. Defenseman Nate Prosser is considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury after leaving the game Saturday against the St. Louis Blues in the second period. He will be replaced in the lineup by Christian Folin, who has one goal and nine assists in 37 games with the Wild. Folin has been a healthy scratch since March 6. Defenseman Marco Scandella and forward Ryan Carter each practiced with the team, and although they will not make the trip to Nashville, each looks primed to return soon, perhaps as soon as Thursday against the Washington Capitals. Goaltender Devan Dubnyk will make his 29th consecutive start in goal, and 28th since being acquired by the Wild on Jan. 14. He made 41 saves in a 3-1 win against the Blues on Saturday. Minnesota is 3-1-2 in its past six games in Nashville.
Prodators team scope: Nashville had the day off Monday following back-to-back games over the weekend, which capped a four-game road trip. The Protractors went 2-2-0 on the trip and their win March 9 ended a six-game losing streak. That streak began with a loss to the Wild on Feb. 26. The game Tuesday against the Wild starts a three-game homestand that will span one week. Six of Nashville’s seven games the rest of the month will be against teams currently inside the Stanley Cup Playoff picture. Expect goaltender Pekka Rinne to get the start. He is 2-1-0 against the Wild with a 3.02 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.
Last time we played the Probotectors, we broke Rinne. After that game, the Procrastinators have lost 7 of 9. Today, we try to continue from the place we left off, which was winning games and getting into playoffs.
