Tiebreakers - From NHL.com
1. The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage).
2. The greater number of games won, excluding games won in the shootout.
3. The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs. If two clubs are tied, and have not played an equal number of home games against each other, points earned in the first game played in the city that had the extra game shall not be included. If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing.
4. The greater differential between goals for and against for the entire regular season.

No offense to any Devils fans reading this but last year when we played them the game was unbearably boring. I'm not really pumped to play against that system.

Y'all think Jokipakka plays tonight? If it were me I'd play him against the weaker of the two teams and play him against the Devils instead of the hot Isles.

Lehtonen

I know Lehtonen played many back to back games last season.

Do you think he plays against NJ and NYI then?

Not much travel between those 2 teams...

I'd think so this early in the season... But who really knows... Maybe Ruff says this morning after practice... And if he declines to say then it's probably Lehtonen for both.

Lines:

Mike Heika ‏@MikeHeika

Stars lines this morning in NJ:: Benn-Spezza-Seguin, Roussel-Eakin-Garbutt, Cole-Horcoff-Sceviour, Eaves-Fiddler-Hemsky.

Mike Heika ‏@MikeHeika

Stars D-pairs on first rotation: Goligoski-Daley, Jordie Benn-Dillon, Jokipakka-Oleksiak. Looks like Jokipakka will make his NHL debut.

Connauton and McKenzie appear to be scratched.

Don't know if it's because they're trying to or not, but they've scored and given up as many goals as we have so far.

I'd expect an extremely open game tonight.

Cammy, as always, will get something against us.

I'll be there tonight boys. In my new Val road jersey. Shame he's not playing.

On Benn-Spezza-Seguin, Ruff says he might not start them together tonight but likes the option to have during the game.

Odds are lines will be what we saw Wednesday in practice:

Mark Stepneski ‏@StarsInsideEdge

Stars lines this morning: Benn-Seguin-Sceviour; Cole-Spezza-Hemsky; Roussel-Eakin-Garbutt; Horcoff-Fiddler-Eaves/McKenzie

... with Eaves getting the nod over McKenzie.

The Quiet Corner
Well since the B-52 cruise missile strike didn't go over so well it is back to the 155mm howitzer- it is a damn sight easier to hide a cannon than it is to break into an Air Force base ;)

*Drags cannon out of shelter*

*Aims it at the Prudential Center in Newark, not the one in Boston*

*Loads frozen puck & gunpowder into breech*

"Fire in the hole"

*Pulls the string*

KABOOM!!!!!!

*Frozen puck hits center ice*

My work here is done. Go Stars!!!!! :handclap::yo:

Also Ruff is the master of the fake out.

Could be a discussion for a different thread, but is that of any value whatsoever? I don't care he does it often at the end of the day. I just firmly believe it has zero impact on any part of the game. It's one of the goofiest things in sports. I get the secrets with injuries so other players won't target them ... that's a legitimate concern.

The coy stuff about starting goalies and lineups just seems odd and outdated. I can't really think of a good benefit. Fortunately I can't see how it hurts either. It boils down to superstition to me essentially. I guess if it makes him feel good going into a game, great.
