I know youve been down on Blackwood recently but I still think his 5x5 extension (its a really good gamble if he can stay healthy and there wont be another pandemic in the next 5 years) is realistic and not related to how Schmid plays. We could go into next year with full on Dallas plan and pay our 3 goalies something short of 10 million.

Wait, wut? Am I reading this correctly: a 5 year 5 aav extension for Mackenzie Blackwood??

At least I'll get to see Schmid next weekend, one of the games.

Blackwood hasn't even practiced with the team yet, so I don't think his return is imminent within the next week, no matter what happens.

I don't disagree, but I think he is close to as bad as what he was in LA. He may just be getting a charge out of playing for a new team and this being his potential last run of games. Not that I think he would go unsigned this summer. I think there'd be teams looking to sign him. Maybe even Tampa to backup Vasilevskiy? Or Lou to backup Sorokin lol. I've been talking about him as a potential backup to Vasilevskiy in Tampa for a while, if he chooses to keep playing. Vegas might keep him around if he does well there.

I think Quick is pretty bad, but what makes Quick bad these days is not so much that he gives up goals that look bad. His style of play causes him to be out of position A LOT, to swim a lot, to be way too overagressive and leave empty nets. That worked for him for a long time, but not anymore.

That's what I think his issue is these days.

It’s one game.

That said I hope Quick pitches another shutout here:

It almost feels like with all the goalie injuries in Vegas (and I'm not sure it's long term for Hill) that it's setting up for a Golden Knights/Kings playoff matchup.

But it doesn't seem like it will happen in the first round, as I don't think there's a team capable of swooping in and jumping both of those teams to win the division, thus pushing them back to 2nd and 3rd. Better chance Seattle falls into a wild card than first place in that division.

Jack pointless in 3 straight, and goalless in 6 straight. And ruff broke up a line with a ton of talent for some reason lol.

Schmid is solid. Mercer is hot as hell right now, Bo and Bratt need to be switched

Blackwood is on the take your time rehab schedule (of course I said this in Nov/Dec).
I think now he is more than he was then.

Sample size was still too limited with Schmid then, but it's getting larger now and he's somehow played even better since his recall than he had played his last couple of games in the NHL before that.

First off, Good win.

Secondly, I hope Nico isn't hurt badly.

He was limping pretty good there.

And finally, the Palat/Haula/Bratt *and* Meier/Hughes/Boqvist experiment needs to end.

There was a point in the 2nd period (I think it was 10:10 of it) where Bratt was on the ice with Jack and Timo, and they had a tic-tac-toe sequence that led to a very good scoring chance by Timo.

I don't know, guys.

Those lines look discombobulated as they are.

Boq needs to be put back on the 3rd line 'cause it's not producing diddly-squat right now.

And put Bratt back on Jack's line as that line seems to have the best chemistry.

I really didn't like having to win it 2-1 (empty netter not included) but I think maybe it helped us to win it by basically one goal with a very close, low score.

We had to do that in the 3rd period of the Colorado game too, though the score of that was rung up before that.

So we basically have as many points now as the current wild card 2 team is on pace to end the season with. Doesn't mean they might not get a couple more than that.

And I don't think any of the other teams behind that are on pace for quite 90. Florida is on pace to finish with 89.

Actually, Ottawa is on pace for 90 points and are playing the Canucks right now.

So we've basically already clinched a playoff spot, all but officially. 2-3 more points guarantees it.

It doesn't mean we shouldn't try to win as many games as we can down the stretch.

This will be arguably the toughest week of teams this season. And it even ends with Minnesota next Tuesday, who have been very good of late. And then we finally get a two day breather from games, which will be much needed.

100000% agreed.

The experiment is not working.

Lindy needs to stop messing around and get things back to what was working.

We already have 3 lines that were working and Lindy had to re-invent the wheel.

Enough!

That one shift in the mid-3rd when Hughes' line couldnt get it past the red line was disturbing. And it wasnt just the d-men passing it back and forth. The forwards were in on it heavily.

Just one shift, but it stuck out.
Also, that one shift (which I mentioned earlier) in the 2nd where Bratt was on the same ice and Jack and Timo for that one pretty sequence illustrated all I need to know in regards to this experiment : END IT NOW. :squint:

Love Boqvist but his "reward" (being put on Jack's line) should've stopped after the last game.

Tonight's game felt like Bratt was being punished more than Boq being rewarded.

Put the lines back how they were, Lindy....okay? sigh...

First, Montreal plays an amazing system. I really think Martin St Louis is the best an brightest young coach in the game.

Very sloppy game. Hughes and Meier look lost with one another. To make things worse, Hughes look pretty bad since the injury which leads me to believe he is playing with an injury.

Bratt is just so undisciplined with the puck. Sure he is talented and makes great plays but winning teams don't allow their players to do this. You would think being dropped to the 3rd would send a message, I wouldn't mind him sitting a game to really make a point and light a fire.

Schmid is the starter, Ruff may not know it yet but after tomorrow he may.

You call Bratt undisciplined yet you give Hughes misplays the "injury excuse". (is that going to be devils fans crutch going forward? :shakehead)

Hughes has been back from injury for how many games now?

Here's a thought, Jason :

How about Lindy stop this stupid-as-f experiment and put the lines back the way they were?

The 3rd line with Boqvist on it was rolling.

The 2nd line with Bratt on it had a rough start BUT they were showing signs of gelling until Lindy split them up.

And also you're assuming too much as to Lindy's "message-sending".

His "wanting to get Bratt going" is baloney.

He just wanted to reward Boqvist for his great play which was fine then but now that novelty has worn off and the lines are JUST. NOT. WORKING.

"Time to put the bands back together", if I may use a Blues Brother's reference.

Shouldn’t matter what line bratt is playing on he is a ‘play driver’ remember?
