There better be,-or they won't be a team as good as The Wild. The Blues barely hung on to beat a marginal team that was missing its whole top forward line.

Tarasenko vs Granlund!

first, early calder clash?!

glad we took the 2 points yesterday even with playing poorly,
much less pressure when you win the 1st one of a back-to-back

Gonna be a tough one.

Dallas might not have been physically draining, but it was probably mentally draining.

Then hop on a plane and fly to Minnesota to play a team waiting for them?

I like the Blues chances if they can make it to the second period with the score tied. The issue will be getting there.

I expect the Wild to come out flying at an unsustainable pace to try to take the Blues out of it mentally early in the game, much like Chicago.

If the Blues can weather the storm, they'll have a good chance.

LET'S GO BLUES!!!

I'm still left wanting by Backes' play in the offensive zone. He's capable of being a dominant force there, but I've seen very little of that so far this season. He seems generally content to create space while Perron and Oshie funnel the puck to the net, rather than exhibiting the determination and drive to get the puck there himself.

Backes didn't have the rigourous training of being on an organised team, and didn't play in any league games. THAT'S why he is still not up to full speed and his timing is off (whereas, Tarasenko is in mid-season form). Perron had the same problem, despite having played in some casual tournaments and pick-up games. He's rounding into shape faster than Backes, because he DID play some, while Backes did not (only weight training).

That ugly, uh, thing that happened in Dallas was the letdown I feared. After facing only divisional opponents and playing a game on the road against a rookie goalie, nearly every ingredient was in place for the Blues to underachieve.

However, a win is a win, they rarely have consecutive bad games, and they're the best home team in the league. Minnesota's better than Dallas is, but the Blues will be a lot better, too.

Please no Langenbrunner.

I agree with that, but what I'm seeing isn't really a timing or conditioning issue (although I suppose it could be a confidence one). I just don't see any aggressiveness in him when he has the puck on his stick in the offensive zone.

For example, I can't remember the last time I've seen him even try attack a defense by making an aggressive (or "power") move to the middle of the ice while carrying the puck in the offensive zone. The lack of playing time during the lockout hasn't kept McDonald, Oshie, Perron, etc. from attempting that sort of play, which leads me to believe that Backes just doesn't have a very aggressive mindset in those situations at the moment.

I've been watching others more closely most games, so maybe he is and I'm simply missing it. I'll try pay closer attention this game.

No that means nothing with Schwartz. We burned that last year by bringing him up at the end of the year.

Plus if they were going to do that, he simply would have been sent to Peoria out of training camp and D'Agostini would be in his place.

Hoping for a strong effort tonight by the Blues...

Hope Ells gets the shutout and we go 3 straight home games without giving up a goal.:yo:

BTW Easton great job with GDTs, I know I did alot last year but with me working full time and being a full time student time has been sparse. Hopefully I will be able to sneak one of mine in sometime soon though.

I dont know if anyone else feels the same way I do, but sometime soon I would like to see us juggle the lines. I feel like this team should be more of a threat 5-on-5.

For different reasons but I would like to see more out Backes and the Bergy line in the offensive zone. Backes needs to find what I like to call the "killer instinct" in the offensive zone. Even if timing is an issue, he is not being nearly as aggressive as he can be.

Does Schwartz have a higher hockey IQ then Stewie/Bergy? I think so and I feel like its noticeable every night. Stewart has been playing better but every game I wonder how in the hell a big, strong and fast skater like him can lose the puck so quickly on the boards. If that line can't begin to move the puck better they need to just fire it at the net.

Russell has not been looking very sharp in the game. I would like to think it is his timing, but the more I watch the more I see him not skating 100% to the puck. Jacks has looked decent all season. The last two games hes had some costly mental errors that need to get cleaned up. Same for Polak. Shatty has been our best dman. Petro still needs to play better but his issue appears to be timing. Redden has been a pleasant surprise. He still needs to adjust to the speed of the game but his poise, transition game and the way he break up plays with his stick is definitely good to see.

The Blues need to come out strong tonight and not take the foot off the pedal. Lets stay undefeated at home!

What kind of line juggling would you like to see?

I think the Steen line is set. I really like the way they play together. I'd love to see Perron play with Stewart and Berglund for a bit, but that would either send Schwartz to the 1st line to play against other teams' top lines or to the 4th line if Sobotka moves up. And while I've always been a huge fan of Sobotka, he's just not offensively talented enough to play on the first line. I wouldn't be opposed to line juggling but I'm not sure what combinations would work better than what's out there right now.

The boys don't mess around at home...Especially Frank. Considering their low effort last night, I fully expect them to put it to Minnesota...If they can stay disciplined. The Wild have been great on the powerplay, while the Blues penalty kill has been lacking. I hope that's not the case.
