Let's remember something. Saturday night against Dallas, we allowed over 100 shots. Many missed and blocked, but still, it was like 110 attempted shots on our goal. We set a franchise record in that regard.
Considering the barrage the Stars were giving us, along with the fact we were winning the game somehow, it was normal for Patrick to go to his shutdown top 4. He wanted to neutralize the damage as we were getting pinned in deep every shift. I believe the TOI for the 3rd pairing in this game was an anomaly.
That was a great recap on why third pairing got low minutes.Rather than simply pile on all the third pairing options than Bigras.
And when he does have an inconsistent night which he will at the pro level , we will not turn on him as he is a good young D.
