I was going to see what the hype was about but now I'm hearing the makers left out evidence and skewed the narrative so I'm less inclined.

I don't think so. The mid/bottom half of this division is going to remain tight for much of the season. You just have to stay close and get hot at the right time.

But with that said there is nothing about the way this team is playing that should lead anyone to think this is actually possible.

Not really Mattews is the class of the draft after pick 4 it drops pretty good. There is a group of 4 or 5 centers that will fall where we will pick.

I really think the first half of last season was the anomaly. What we're seeing now is the norm.

If we just had one line that was on a hot streak or having chemistry right now that would help but seems like none of our lines are hot or a threat. Don't know what the cause of that is. Maybe Lav should just keep the lines the same for a while once he decides what it should be/look like to help the lines build some chemistry together rather than changing them up so much cause whatever they are doing right now just isn't working.

Funny I read a bunch of "we will be fine" posts last season around this time. This 'slump' has been going on since the 2nd half of last year. People have been living off of the hot start they had last season. The reality is that this is a fairly average team with a goalie starting the downturn of his career.

There are some good pieces to build around, but by getting an important piece on offense they had to give away an important piece on defense. This team still needs help in several areas.

but we haven't been in a 41 game slump. We started the season awesome. We looked like world beaters. We had short a slump around Thanksgiving, then we treaded water playing .500 hockey not looking very pretty but still getting points and showing flashes of good things.

and now we are in our second true slump, but just since since Christmas, with us going 2-5-1 after tonights debacle... heck maybe we just suck within a week of any major holiday..

We just expected more from this team. This the real team, it's not a slump. Next year will be better, I'm not gonna expect anything. This team just isn't good.
