I’m not sure what you mean? The hybrid icing really only protects from a goofy hit on a race or a fall into the boards.

If I’m on a team that wants to pond you into the glass 20 times a night, I get over the red line and flip it into the corner and I take a run at you.

Pro defenses tend to try and switch and shade that initial forechecker if they can. I believe those types of forechecking hits are what pro-interference people were saying.

Yes you're right on both counts, that's what the pro-interference crowd hung that hat on, but it was the full on chases to the puck for icing when a defender couldn't protect themselves which were the most dangerous plays.

Now the argument, never great, is completely antiquated.

I’m talking about as he entered the zone. You have 3-1 lead. Get it deep and grind it out. Don’t get cute at the blue line with that drag crap. He turns it over leading to scramble to get it back. That leads to the call. It was stupid.

That’s fair, but I was just talking about the hooking call itself
