Goaltender Joacim Eriksson has been called up from the AHL Utica Comets and may back-up Eddie Lack pending clarification of Luongo's injury status.
The Canucks have called up 23-year-old Swedish goalie Joacim Eriksson, the No. 1 goalie for the AHL Utica Comets. He was on the ice this morning at Rogers Arena with fellow Swede Eddie Lack.
Eriksson, who signed with the Canucks as a free agent in June, has played in 20 games for the Comets this season. He has a record of 8-10-1, a .907 save percentage and a 2.77 goals-against average with two shutouts — one of them in the Comets’ last game, on Dec. 20, when Eriksson stopped all 21 shots he faced in a 3-0 Comets win. Two nights earlier Eriksson stopped 26 of 28 shots as the Comets beat the Heat, one of the AHL’s top teams, 4-2.
Eriksson is 4-0 in his past four starts with a 1.48 GAA and .953 save percentage.
