The Anaheim Ducks are getting close to being whole again.

They're expected to have leading goal scorer Troy Terry and veteran defenseman Cam Fowler back when they open a five-game trip Monday night against the Boston Bruins.

Terry has missed the past four games and Fowler the past three while in the NHL's COVID-19 protocol.
Anaheim also might get Adam Henrique back in the lineup after he missed the past 18 games with a lower-body injury. Henrique is on the road trip and skated with the team on Sunday.

Josh Manson and Anthony Stolarz were still in protocol as of Sunday, as well as Ducks head coach Dallas Eakins, who missed the 5-1 win against the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday.

"Every day we test, we cross our fingers and hope everything turns out to be negative," Ducks assistant coach Mike Stothers said.

The Bruins breathed a sigh of relief when their leading scorer, Brad Marchand, returned to the lineup Saturday night against the Winnipeg Jets after suffering an upper-body injury in the second period Thursday against the Washington Capitals.

Marchand did not return during the Bruins' 4-3 win and wasn't expected to play against the Jets.

"It's hard to sit out a game," Marchand said. "It's going to take a lot to sit out if you feel like you can play through it. Part of the culture in this organization is if you feel you can play, you've got to battle through it. You almost feel like you're letting the guys down if you sit out."

Marchand leads the Bruins in goals (20), assists (24) and points (44), but he's not the hottest player for Boston in January.

David Pastrnak has 11 goals in 12 games this month, the fourth time he has scored at least 11 goals in a calendar month during his NHL career.

Pastrnak scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period against the Jets on Saturday night, giving him three goals in the past two games.

Oskar Steen, Charlie Coyle, Jake DeBrusk and Charlie McAvoy also have key goals in the past two games.
"If you want to be a good team, you need contributions from everyone," Boston coach Bruce Cassidy said. "It's always good for team building and success when different lines contribute."

The Ducks will try to counter Boston's offensive skill with goalie John Gibson, who played one of his best games of the season in the win against the Lightning on Friday, getting 32 saves.

"He's elite," Derek Grant said of his teammate. "There's a reason he's an All-Star, and he deserves to be probably every year. Even when we're not winning games, he's still standing on his head. It takes a team effort to play in front of him and reward him with some goals like we did (against Tampa Bay)."

Gibson also is the main reason the Ducks have the third-best penalty-kill unit in the league at 86 percent. Anaheim killed all seven penalties against the Lightning.

"Your goalie has to be the best penalty killer," Stothers said.

looking forward to watching the Ducks, caught a game early in the year vs Vegas and they were a very entertaining team to watch with loads of trouble to be aware of up and down the lineup as far as talent, Getzlaf putting up some pts again too

The Ducks started the season pretty hot, but they're only 3-7-1 since the Christmas break, although their beating of Tampa 5-1 last time out was impressive. Like everyone they've had their Covid/injury battles, so I think when they've got a fully fit roster this is still a team that's genuinely on the improve. As @ODAAT said, this is a fun team to watch, they play hard but mostly fair and they have something special in Zegras and some other handy younger talent.

Looking forward to the game, hope the Bruins get the points and we continue to see good things from our own emerging youngsters like Vaak and Steen. The performance against the Jets was ok, but it didn't feel like a real team effort from the forwards especially, so hopefully we see more consistency from all 4 lines this time.

Ducks are very good home team, but struggle on the road

at home they have a .542 W%
on road they have a .368 W%

They also have allowed the 8th most SA/GP this year, which bodes well for Boston who has the 2nd most SF/GP this year. Not a team you can sleep on though as they have a fair amount of young talent, but anything less then 2pts for Boston would be disappointing.

just got my ticket for the Bruins/Avs game on Wednesday, row 7 on the end where the Bruins shoot twice (I always sit at that end). Cannot freaking wait, first time to one of these games since October 10, 2019.
That's always where I try to sit when the Bruins come to play the Islanders. Great spot, and great prices when your buying in the home team's arena.

my wife's old boss used to have season tickets right at the glass on that end of the ice between the left dot and the blue line. He always gave us the Bruins games. awesome seats, great experience sitting there several years in a row, but you do miss a lot at the other end when sitting at ice level on the half wall. Since we stopped getting those tickets I look for slightly elevated seats. The ones I got are around the blue line on the penalty box side and 7th row is just high enough to see the whole ice. pretty optimal seats for a fan of the visiting team IMO.

I gotta admit that as a Torontonian who doesn't cheer for the Leafs (and in fact loves the annual salt), I do enjoy watching the Bruins from time to time.

Not sure who will be back on our end - if I had to guess, Fowler is in, but otherwise we're still short-staffed on forwards, so...please don't injure Zegras.
