TSN Power rankings - Canucks #5 (up from #9)

December has been good for the Canucks, who are 7-0 this month, allowing a total of eight goals in those seven victories. For his part, G Roberto Luongo has a 1.19 GAA, .962 SV% in the last five games.

ESPN Power rankings - Canucks #5 (up from #8):

OK, if not the Kings, you can certainly make a case for the Vancouver Canucks as the league's hottest team, winning their seventh in a row in emphatic fashion over visiting Boston on Saturday.

SportsNet Power Rankings - Canucks #8 (up from #9):

As impressive as the Canucks’ seven-game winning streak was, the first six W’s came against teams that failed to make the playoffs last season. Then they blew off Boston’s doors at home and some guy punched Milan Lucic. After the game. At a bar. The passion is back.

New York Post has the Canucks at #6 (up from #9):

Suffered their first loss of the month Tuesday when the Wild prevailed 3-2 in a shootout. And most of those seven wins came without production from either of the Sedin twins.

TSN/ESPN seems the more accurate ranking. SportsNet shows that these guys do not stay up late to actually watch the Canucks.

I'm all for looking at the strength of teams we've played but if you're going to dismiss all the teams that didn't make the playoffs last year... and all of them that aren't in the playoffs this year... you aren't left with many teams left.

The best argument is:

- We're supposed to win against teams out of the playoffs otherwise we suck
- We're supposed to win against cup contenders / playoffs teams otherwise we are only feasting on the weak

So who are we allowed to lose to?

Most teams make the playoffs by picking up points against non playoffs teams. That's why those teams are out of the playoffs, because they can't routinely beat half the friggin' league.

David Booth, wtf mate? Make up your mind if you're useless or not.

The thing with booth is that when he has been healthy with some games under his belt he has always been good. It's just that this is so seldom. If he can stay healthy he will be a massive piece to that puzzle come playoff time.
