The reason this game is close is because of brain farts that players are having. I don't know if this has been a bad defensive effort by the team as such. More of bad defensive choices being made by individuals.

The team is going into the shootout mentality and playing dumb defense. They were so good at the start and for most of the 1st period.

PK’s suck and they are not clearing the puck.
Also is it me or do all of the opponents all have better offensive spacing when setting up plays?

I think Schwartz is playing injured. He was so good for us when he played last year and was good at the start of the season too but has been largely invisible off late.

I think it is so strange because our forecheck gives most of our opponents no space but we do not do a good job closing space in our own zone. The only time they are super aggressive is our PK and that generally ends up screwing things up. If they were that aggressive on evens it would likely work.

This team collapses down too low 6 on 5, too many guys in the slot allows Vancouver to run an umbrella on a 6 on 5. Time to redraw the defensive scheme for 5 on 6.
