Nothing. He sucks.

Pearson (or Gadjovich) literally brings exactly what Chiasson brings on the PP. And he's clogging up a roster spot as an ES liability when we could be carrying a Di Giuseppe or Lockwood who could actually be serviceable on the 4th line and PK where we badly need help.

Chiasson is a depth 13th-14th forward to be used in the event on an injury or to give someone a break out of the lineup...if he's on your PP unit, you've gone off the rails. Tanner Pearson is a viable 2nd unit net front presence, ideally you've got better options but he'll work in a pinch. Personally, I'd be working Pearson down the lineup into a 3rd line role, I know he and Bo like to play together, but I'd prefer to give Bo a bigger dose of Podkolzin and Boeser on his wings.

What a horrible, stinking 5 year ride this has been ... but somehow, this ebullient mood makes it bearable. Nice to be back posting again after making a commitment to not do so until Benning was gone. Mind you, that was made thinking he'd be out after his first contract was up. Lunacy.

I'm curious to see how the players react and an experienced coach works to make this roster play a more effective game. Strategies, roster decisions, movement of players from the farm, off waivers, etc. It's such a change from not caring about what happens knowing the level of managerial incompetence at play.

Can only join the game for the last period, but eager to see how it goes.

Generally speaking a new coach will give a bad veteran a few games to play themselves out of a role rather than cutting them instantly, so I'm not too worried about the Chiasson thing. Yet. If he's still there during the Christmas break, anger will start to rise.

It still boggles the mind that nobody can apparently notice that Tanner Pearson is the same player as Chiasson only better and the one thing he's good at is standing in front of the net collecting garbage goals. If you want someone in a PP1 netfront role, put Pearson there and send Chiasson to the moon and call up someone from Abbotsford who can PK.

I was curious what effect Chiasson had on the oilers PP. On the surface the Oilers PP went from last in 2018 to 9th in 2019 when Chiasson on the top unit, and has been first ever since. Green and Benning probably look what Chiasson did to this powerplay. What really happened is they got Lucic and Letestu off the first unit, and have given more and more minutes to McDavid and Draisaitl each year. They are still first this year. It's almost as if giving McDavid and Draisaitl more than 3 minutes( they now play over 4) of pp time per game was the reason it improved and not Chiasson.
