Things to do until the end of the season:
1- Keep Ducharme, Habs need to finish bottom 10, absolutely no other choice than that. He's so terrible.
2- Send Caufield down until the end of the year.

The rest, couldn't care less.

How do you still play Caufield on the fourth line when Gallagher is out?
Caufield has a lot of potential but he has been outproduced by Perreault who played half the game this season while getting a lot of ice time with our best center. He needs to be send down, but if not, he doesn't belong in our top 6 right now.

Montreal doesn't have a top six. They have a collection of 12 forwards not playing to their ability due to bad coaching and a negative environment created by their former general manager.

Until he gets sent down he should be playing ideal minutes against weaker lines. Get him on the top powerplay. Get him against other teams fourth lines. Set him up for success not failure.

I'm sure he will still get some PP times, and he probably will play now against other teams forth line instead of always facing top competition like he did with Suzuki, which hasn't been working this season. Ducharme won't put two rookie together on the same line (Poehling and Caufield) since most NHL coach are conservative on that point, and is Dvorak that much of a better center for centering for Caufield than Perreault? You said it, montreal doesn't really have a top 6, we shouldn't focus that much on his position on the line-up, let's wait before judging his ice-time utilisation, even with Suzuki, he player less than 13 minutes in the last 2 games. Probably won't get worse.

Not a fan of his utilisation either since the start of the season, but playing against weaker competition with a vet center might actually help him get back on track.

Caufield hasn't done anything to deserve to be higher up in the lineup,

He is a rookie with 3 points in 16 games and a -6

Then send him down.

This is an outdated philosophy. If you aren't prepared to give a young offensive talent top 6 icetime and PP time, then he should be doing it at the AHL level.

Giving him no icetime and playing with plugs In a role he will never play consistently is stupid.

he is going to have to earn that at the NHL level,

there are not too many rookies in the league that are immediately thrown into the top 6 and given #1 PP time,
Add to that that among rookie being regular (let's say 15 games played), Caufield ranks 11th in ice time but 30th in points. That doesn't scream "deserve more top 6 ice-time".

he earned it in the playoffs, we have nothing to lose this season, so the goal should now be 100% do what's best to develop the young players imo. Dom won't see it that way though. Putting Caufield on the 4th line is stupid and a waste of time imo, unless he's not doing something they are telling him to do and you need to send a message.

My f***ing god Ducharme is so dumb. Like why not play Caufield with Poehling and Drouin? Are you scared of losing? Armia's got no future here and Caufield is our 2nd biggest piece moving forward. Disgusting. At least send him down if you think he's costing you games...

Also lol at reuiniting Chiarot-Savard

How can you keep Dom at this point.
Brunet said it perfectly on RDS, love this guy, after all the changes made this past weekend the team played the same exact way against Vancouver as they were playing before all the firings, several veteran players have indirectly stated in interviews that the system in place just doesn't work, and when DD was questioned about his coaching tactics he said he's been doing the same thing for 18 years and is not going to change ,:deadhorsefine go back to the Juniors you f****** moron!
if if we were closer towards the end of the season I could see them keeping him till the end of the year but I don't think we can endure 55 plus games of this horror show, what good would a losing atmosphere do for the value of the players you want to move or the confidence of the ones you see as your future?

Then why isn’t he set back down? He shouldn’t have been called back up to begin with. The season was over. It was a pathetic last ditch effort to try and save face with this team this year by former management that failed miserably.

I get that Habs are now in a rebuild, whether it is publicly stated or note, but what really really really sucks is that Habs will not play a meaningful game until mid October 2022. That's a LONG time to wait for hockey that matters.
